Badge, nope I dont like his as a commentator,and there's heaps of commentators who do it better.

To get an idea about good commentary, watch the AFL. Unfortunately they are far superior in terms of under delivery, and letting the vision speak for itself. Not scared to lapse into silence, able to use light and shade. I think most Fox commentators, with exception of Smith and Brand, come in under prepared. They just tell you what you can see, and the side comments are things that have no illumination or thought. And God bless Sterlo. He is a beacon in a sea of dross.

As for Ryan Phelan ... he is just a pretty boy who reads an autocue.

How is it that such a great game is simply unable to produce any analysts worth a pinch of sh*t (bar Sterlo and M Johns).

The rest are either agenda driven egomaniacs (Gould, Hadley), dull (Pearce, Brandy) or dense (pretty much the rest).

It is sad when a number of current players run rings around the paid professionals behind the mic - and don't get me started on the newspaper "journalists".....

Macavity...if M Johns is an "analyst" then Laurie Daley is a good selector. Johns was utter crap on channel 9 and all he would do is push the agenda for his "boys" at the storm, knights and tigers. He was utterly exposed on the sunday roast when all he would do is agree with Gus and never have an opinion of his own. He was clueless.
I am glad the f**king tosser was punted from channel 9

Phelan is pretty alright. He's not biast and he facilitates the conversation rather than tries to be the one to analyse the play. His job is host- and he does that well.

Freedman and Jnr are alright, and Brandy actually knows what he's talking about instead of the biast and sometimes downright STUPID sh*t that comes out of Daley's mouth. If only they could replace Del with Sterlo and you'd have a panel I'd actually WANT to tune into.

However no one is worse than Gould and Rabs wanking on ch9, especially (atm) during an eels game.

Phelan seriously knows nothing about league. If I've already read the paper that day, I know exactly what he's going to say. The only time he's evenly vaguely interesting is when the other blokes pull him up for being an idiot.

Can't stand Braybrook, Pearce and Brandy. If all three are on a panel I'd go ballistic.

As for Warren Smith, he grew on me and in the end I was disaappointed he didn't remain on the show but he is still a very entertaining caller.

Phelan is a decent host. I don't know what people expect from him.

I'm not sure what involvement Phelan had with AFL, but I think Folouser and cutie for Phelan is a fair trade.

If only Bourbon Beccy would finally "come out" as the AwFL bag that she is, stopped masquerading as an NRL fan and pharked off to AwFL once and for all. That would be great.

I think Smith, Belcher and Brandy are probably the best for mine on Fox. Sterlo is the only saving grace for nine at the moment.

The Gus and Rabbits "Old Married Couple" routine takes up about 10-15 minutes of game nowadays.

Freeman is very annoying and offers little.

Gordie is a meat head who is constantly pushing his own QLD/Souths/Broncos/Cowboys/Anti-Dragons barrow. I try to listen to him as least as possible.

Lozza Daley embarresses himself regularly. If he gets on a roll and no one stopped him, he would talk himself right out of the NSW selectors job, because he talks so much sh*t. PLEASE LET HIM TALK HIS WAY OUT THHE SELECTORS JOB! Last Mondays game was an example of this, Daley got it completely wrong, went on about it for ages as Smith and Brandy sat there smirking, waiting for him to shut up.

NRL on Fox beats the hell out of the Footy Show for footy discussion anyday. Phelan does his job, takes a back seat while the likes of Wiz, Wendell etc do the talking.

Brandy's a legend and you'd expect me to say that as a Panthers fan but also as a commentator he doesn't pull any punches, he's not afraid to launch into bad refereeing decisions like that so called Israel Folau 'try' the other night and I appreciate that as opposed to Laurie Daley who agreed it was a try and when he commentates his standard comment for a struggling team is 'they're out on their feet, they're out on their feet, repeat every two minutes'....

Phelan is the worst in the business and has already been sacked a few times. The guy is sh*thouse, has no idea about the game and makes me wanna switch channels!
