Wasn't Kenny going to offer to help Parra?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is there another club that alienates as many of it's legends as ours?

If I was a young back or half I would be rapt to be coached by the greatest 5/8 since WW2! (and, unlike any of our coaches, he has won a few grand finals as well!)

I just hope we didn't knock him back if he did offer.

Reddy has won a premiership.

It would of been nice to see Kenny back at Parra........ but maybe Parra hasn't got room for him...... I hope he goes OK.....

After some of the baggings he has given the club I can't understand why they wouldn't offer him a position?

Unfortunately for the club many of our legends are put off by the fact that Fitzgerald is still at the club. That being said how many times have Kenny and Sterling for that matter been asked to help out the club? I am pretty sure that Brett was offered a coaching role after he finished his playing career - many rated him a good chance of making it as a coach - but he turned his back on it and decided to try the media instead?

Yeah looks like Kenny got the shaft from FOX and so checked out Coaching at Parra, but there was no room/desire for him or something.

So he has gone to the Panthers, and its probly the stoopidest thing this Club has done since letting go of Stu Galbraith.

Have to agree with Misty here, we sure do know how to alienate some of our legends. Some are still connected to the Club, but I bet that there are just as many that aren't.

I tried to post this exact topic on the Parra bb yesterday but it was not approved and susequently deleted. I sent two emails yesterday asking why and got no response. Today I look on the bb and they've approved posts bagging Sterlo so I don't know what the go is with that siite but if they want to treat me like that they can forget me joining one of the members clubs again next year.

To put it nicely mate......f@#$ them, if that's there attitude to a realistic question in regards to Parra, i can't believe that people can be antagonistic towards Sterlo

It's well know that Dennis & Kenny have never seen eye to eye......i happen to have Brett Kenny's autobiography and he is openly critical about Dennis and his managerial practice's!!

When players like the calibre off Brett Kenny come asking for a job at your club YOU MAKE ROOM for such greats.......the amount of knowledge he could provide youngsters & seasoned professionals......the fringe benefits would be great!

I dont see the problem really, i mean you take an opportunity like that by the hands and Kenny has done that. Doesnt mean becuase he has joined Penrith he aint a Parra boy at heart, which he certnatly is. I think its more the club not wanting to help rather than him turning his back on the club. Besides theres plenty of ex eels out there who arnt happy with the Fitzy/ Smith combo, Pricey is one hater of that combo.

At the end of the day its only SG Ball and who knows Kenny could be back at Parra in no time, but i wouldnt get all pissed off with him just becuase of this i mean he is a eels legend and thats that and is a valued member of the history of the might blue and golds

When Kenny retired there was no such offer fromParra. In fact, an offer to play out his career and then possibly go further after it came from Alan Jones at balmain. Bert was very tempted, but loyalty - wanting to finish his career with his beloved Eels, forced his hand.

Fitzy couldn't even be bothered being in the office when Kenny - our longest serving player - signed his last contract.

Kenny had a reasonable job that he was happy to go to - he worked for Berri Fruit Juice as a delivery person - a job that he loved. Years later when extending his house, he asked Fitzy for some bar work to help him meet the bills. Fitzy turned him down! Only then did he start to seek a media career!

Yeah that's right!!, he left the contracts with his secretary for him to sign, and it was only a coincidnce that Kenny & Fitzgerald crossed paths to discuss his contract......"do you have 5 minutes Bert" where apparently the words said by Fitzy to Burt in discussing his playing future with Parramatta!!

I can't believe such greats are treated like this at Parramatta!!!

I just wonder if Sterlo would look into coaching once Fitzy has gone?????

Price offered help and got told to shove it back in the '90's so did Sterlo now Kenny.
But look at the records of ex-parra players to coach the club at 1st grade level.
Cronin and Hilditch spring to mind, they sent us backwards.
Hilditch ahd the $9mil team and couldn't make the semis.

Would you rate the 96 side better than the 03 side?

Also, the 97 ARL Premiers didn't make the finals in 96.

That makes me sick in the guts to think that a stalwart would be reduced to serving drinks to punters at a place where his legend was created. I realise he asked Fitzy but bloody heck..

It makes me even sicker to think that he'd go to Penrith but a bloke has to make a buck I guess.

Damn i remember that time, and seeing Bert had resigned is probably until this very day one of my best Parra memories. At that point he automatically became one of my favourite players of all time,a nd would forever remain in my Top 3, no matter who comes and goes, because of the loyalty he showed.

...And had Parra not won 4 premierships with him, he might have looked elsewhere earlier in his career.
let's not forget that he got on the 82 'roo tour because of his work in the 2 grand finals. And he only got in a test because he formed a combination wih the best lockl and halfback at the time.

In shortm, had Parra NOT been premiership winners, things might have been differnt. he just may have been another Ian Hindmarsh or PJ Marsh, had Parra back then been as underachieving as you love us to be now!
