They players like and respect stuart, something that wasn't there under Raper. Stuart attracts players, sponsers and other quality coaches(such as Dymock) where Raper didn't.

The sharks have been a soft club for a very long time. Anderson tried to change this but he lost his mind with selecting his son in the centres and releasing half the team and replacing them with guys like Tweedle, Wessel etc. But other things he did were good such as blood youngsters. Under Raper we have lost some of our best jnrs because he didn't look at them, Stuart hopefully will address this.

We've gone from the worst coach in the NRL to the australian coach. Thongs might not change next season on the field but we are already a stronger and happier club for having Stuart involved.

I wonder after a while will the Cronulla players respect Stuart? Because during the latter part of last season it was obvious that the Easts players did not respect or want to play for Stuart.

That was after how many years though?

Could be his methods get stale after a while, but to us they are brand new and I can't wait till he starts implementing them.

You really do have a chip about certain areas and where people live, dont you?

The players may respect him, but will the others in control, the powers that be respect him, it needs to be earnt....coaches like Sheens and Bennett automatically get it, theyve been around and they earnt it.
Theres a bad losing ingrained culture at the Sharks, I see stuart getting frustrated not unlike Raper by a stodgy board that seem only interested in themselves and couldnt give a rats about their team or fans.

That was the first difference with Stuart.

He has been given both reins to the horse - Raper only had one, hence why he ran in circles.

Therefore all consequences will fall on Stuart - but hopefully the ohter side of the coin will prevail.

here we have ricky stuart, a coach who thinks its a good idea to play ben hornby ahead of thurston in a test match, reshuffles the entire backline and moves his hooker to halfback during a game, and who steers a team with a top 8 roster from the top to the bottom, combined with the sharks , a team that has never won a premiership, breakes every coach that ever goes there (poisoned chalice), and has a weaker playing roster than the roosters have had in the last 2 years.

sharks are a good bet for wooden spoon next year.

Bugger it, I'm getting sick of the Stuart haters. I'm no fan of the bloke personally (SL traitor - ex Bulldog - knob in the press), but he resurrected the Chooks, the Blues and now the Roos from a losing culture (as per next week ;-)). Maybe he can do that at the Sharks?

Didnt know the Blues had a losing culture? (well for the next 3-4 yrs they will)
The Blues won the series in 1992/3/4/6/7/2000/3/4 before Stuart took over in 2005 for his one yr wonder.
Stuart was also lucky he was able to call on Johns for games 2 and 3, otherwise he too would have suffered the same fate as Murray in 2006.

If he can get the Sharks to the top 8 in 2007 then it will be almost as great an accomplishment as being in three straight GFs!

That's DPG for you. He's never tasted success in his life so he has to resort to bringing down other areas of the world that have achieved success.

If he can't, I know of no other coach that can.

you obviously are if you can come up with something like that. i dont think that losing one tournament in god knows how many years is a losing culture for the roo's. as for the blues having a losing culture before stuart came along. Umm, did you miss watching a few of the series's between 1990 & 2005?

Australia will win this tri nations tournament purely on how good their team is compared to NZ & the Kiwi's. Stuarts already shown hes got nothing useful to offer with his crazy player selections and rotations.

While Stuart might do well, with Kimmorley at half, Cronulla will not go anywhere near the finals. If they do they'll fall out early (week one).

Having said that... Stuart seems to only work well with pre-moulded and developed players. Once those developed players move on, the team he's coaching seems to fall to pieces.
