Wayne Bennett and future coach talk

Reports today suggest Griffin may apply for the Knights job. Was always going to be a story wasn't it. The Australian reports Josh Mcguire, Alex Glenn and Ben Hunt might follow Griffin in 2015. Yes to all three. Our side would take on a totally different dimension with McGuire, Glenn, and Tariq in the pack along with Hunt running the show. Those four make us top 8 minimum.

It's a BIG yes to Griffin if those 3 follow. It's probably wishful thinking but I'd imagine most would agree that this would be a good deal.

A very loyal coach to start with.I rate griffin. Always have. Whether he brings players or not he knows how to develop young players better than anyone else in the game right now. Noone rated those Broncos kids after last year. They were written off as sub par. Utter crap. What he has done with Ben Hunt this year has been phenomenal. I feel he would be a good fit here but the club will most likely go stone or Brennan and we will wait years to recruit anyone of real note. Those players are loyal to Griffin and it is pure speculation as to whether they leave. If we got the package deal though it would be insane to pass it up. Most clubs would sack their coach for that sort of talent.

You can bet that McCulloch would also be a very strong possibility if we got Hook.

Hook also is very good in bringing Under 20's up to first grade and was largely responible for bringing Slater, Smith and Cronk to melbourne.

A pipe dream, if he could deliver them, maybe, but could he deliver any of them.

If we were ruthless (and we aren't) we'd tell him, he has 4 weeks, he delivers 2-3 of them as a package deal and he is the head coach.

Brennan as assistant.

A Panthers Player reviewing Brennan...

..."The biggest thing is he backs you 100 per cent. He doesn't tell you go inside your shell, he just wants you to play your own game.

If nothing else, it would be great to see a Knights team that throws the ball around a bit and takes a few chances.

I dont know how successful that approach would be in the NRL (being far more defence-oriented that U20s). This, it would be great to watch.

As good as it would be to get those players I don't really want Hook. His teams play Bennett Ball and id like to see something different next year.

Wouldn't it be weird if we did a reverse-Bennett on Bennett? It's funny, none of our blokes want to follow him, and who could really blame them? He's brought them no success. Now it appears he has ruffled feathers on both sides of the move, and we could actually be the beneficiaries twice over?

That'd be pretty sweet. Hook seems like a bit of a disciplinarian - something we need. He also dropped Hannant for god knows what this year - shows he's got the stones to drop big names - something we need. He could bring a booming halfback with him - something we could definitely use. I'd almost think I'd take Griffin over most other suitors. He seems to have the Brisbane squad putting in for him.

brisbane fans rate him, except for his weird team selections, stubbornness in persisting with players that aren't working (learnt that from wayne?) and crap use of the bench.

Don't be so sure. I have heard it is 50/50 and a untried coach is considered a huge risk given where we have come from. As bold as it is I feel Griffin may come in and steal the base so to speak.

I agree, I'm leaning towards going with an experienced hand on the tiller at this stage.

I'm a bit confused why so many people here want Griffin so much. I thought we all kinda had the similar view that our footy has been too boring this year under Bennett but Griffin has the Broncos playing a very similar game plan as it is. Yes his side is going much better but who's to say he could have success here either with a similar gameplan?

I think we need something different personally.

There's no promise he'd bring McGuire or Hunt anyway...in fact I'd say it's unlikely.

Griffin insisted on playing the form halfback in the comp this season off the bench as a hooker last year.
Then he followed it up by shoehorning a winger who can't pass into 5/8th.

Pass.
