Whats Doing

Griffin has his team playing with pride in the jersey and they are showing real resilience particulary in defence.

This is what we have lacked for years.

Wouldn't it be weird if we did a reverse-Bennett on Bennett? It's funny, none of our blokes want to follow him, and who could really blame them? He's brought them no success. Now it appears he has ruffled feathers on both sides of the move, and we could actually be the beneficiaries twice over?

That'd be pretty sweet. Hook seems like a bit of a disciplinarian - something we need. He also dropped Hannant for god knows what this year - shows he's got the stones to drop big names - something we need. He could bring a booming halfback with him - something we could definitely use. I'd almost think I'd take Griffin over most other suitors. He seems to have the Brisbane squad putting in for him.

A reverse Bennett? Let's talks facts for a change.
This whole Bennett ripping teams apart after he leaves is a myth.
When Bennett left the Broncos, Boyd was not wanted by the Broncos.
Boyd was a solid winger at the time. The Broncos had a choice between him or Steve Michaels. The Broncos went with Michaels.
The other player that came down with Bennett to the Dragons was Nick Emmett. He was a reserve grader, played most of his games for the Redcliffe Dolphins. The Broncos didn't want him either and rightly so, he was depth player at best.

When Bennett left the Dragons, McKinnon wanted to come home to be closer to his family. Boyd was always going to follow Wayne. Scott wasn't happy with the Dragon's offer so he went to Wayne to see if he would take him. Mind you this was a season later after Wayne left the Dragons

People want Griffin because there is the hope that he will bring a few players with him, whether they are actually releasable or not is a completely different question...

Penrith won the Under 20's last year with Garth Bennett running the show. Look at the juniors coming through - it's like we have the chance to get the cream of two seriously good junior teams. Players love him and he has local links. It's a bit of a no brainer...

I am surprised that Brennan is favourite, I thought Stone would be.

I'm not sure Griffin is in the mix, its a longshot at best.

I don't think he's actually likely to get the job, but I think Griffin's a pretty good coach (including all the negatives that have been well pointed out above)

I know a lot about, and watch almost as much of the Broncos as I do about the Knights...and I think one of the biggest impacts on Griffin's performance is that the fans, media, and probably a lot of the club itself expect every coach of the Broncos to be as good as 1988-2008 Bennett

On another note, it will be interesting to see if Bennett 2015+ is as good as the old version

If I was Gidley I'd only even look into Griffin if there was a guarantee he could bring players with him like Hunt, McGuire etc which is a long shot. Garth Brennan is the man for the job imo.

yeah i'm more excited for Garth
Stone while he was good for us, but he's been there too long
overlooking this time as well
and the NSW Cup team is really inconsistent
sometimes ripping the other team and other times being smashed
though the NSW Cup team doesnt have a really consistent roster i'll admit
but i'm sick of an inconsistent team
the whole which team will get off the bus thing is not what i want anymore
I want to have off games and people to be surprised that we played badly

Brennan strikes me as a bloke who could take a team of kids and turn them into a top 8 side in time. Griffin is a good coach but it would only be worth it if he could bring in his loyalists from Brisbane. Bennett will not let that happen.

Expect some players to walk over an incident during the off season if Stone is made head coach

To be honest I think we'll go a lot better next season regardless of who is coach. Whenever we have these horror seasons (although this has easily been the worst) we always bounce back well the next year. We seem to always have one bad year followed by a good year. We're due for our good year next year and I think we'll be okay unless someone like Ricky Stuart somehow takes over.
