I bet if Shaun Mcrae had the pick of QLD they would!!!

You are missing my point anyway Sabby saab. why dont you go and dry root your pillow with the pic of shane Webckes face on one side!!! (Yeah mut!)

The reason he is held in such regard is because he is blessed with such fantatic circumstances!

Its an effect from the cause, ever heard of that Sabby saab? Cause and effect? why dont you wash the lint of your thimble now your finished... thats a good boy..

Woooo! Get some mut up ya!
(Except saab, he likes linen!)

I'm not a huge fan of Brisbane, or QLD for that matter but to call Bennett over-rated is just stupid. I think I heard somewhere this morning that he is either on the verge, or has already got his 300th win as a 1st grade coach. You don't get that by being over-rated.

mut...you are a prime example as to why i agree with abortion.

blessed with fantastic circumstances? In 1992/3/7/8 they won the comp with brilliant attacking play. In 1999 they won one of 10 to start the yr...then went on to win 11 in a row to make the semis...minus their star halfback who retired mid season. Name me another club that could have done that?
In 2000 wayne was smart enough to see they couldnt win like they did in those other yrs and changed the style to suit the team.
Wayne brings in all these "kids" but whose to say they will shine in 1st grade. Who was Darren Lockyer in 1995? He was a kid with potential like every oher kid that comes into grade.
In 1988/9 he had established stars, but then afterwards the new blood came in

Knights97...wayne had 299 wins at present.

Lets not forget that Bennet was the Raiders 87 coach taking them from 11th the previous year under Furner to runner up before going to the Broncos. Bennett built the team that Sheens took over in 88 that went one to take the title in 89, 90. No disrespect to Sheens but he inherited alot of Bennetts hard work.

you can measure bennett a number of ways
his record - tremendous - he's closing in on 300 wins as coach tonight - no other coach has that record.
his players - almost every player speaks of him as more than just a coach. he is a guide for their lives outside of football. he makes them better people, not just players.
family - the triumph over adversity given his own upbringing & his current family challenges shows he has enormous character.
jealousy - the fact that hadley & co. never pass up an opportunity to sink the boot into him proves he's got substance.

i don't particularly care that much regarding wayne bennett - but i know (having met him) that he has more character than most people in rugby league which says a lot about both he & a game built on it

well said greg

his family situation is something i overlooked...just adds to his character as a man and a coach...especially being able to coach for so long with how it is.

VERY good point, one often over-looked...

The fact that Bennett has been able to remain at Brisbane without him or the players getting stale is also a testament to his skill as a coach.

There is plenty i don't agree about regarding his methods, but his record is outstanding...

saint...you would love him at the dragons ;-)

Did I say I wouldn't?? He has a great record & his players respect him.

Maybe if he was coach at Saints when SL was on, Tallis mightn't have been poached by, um, who?!

dont bring SL into this saint....thats dead and buried a period of the game (1995-1997) i like to forget.
Tallis had his reasons for leaving and it wasnt just wayne bennett.

Could someone inform this fool that Bennett won a premiership with Souths in the Brisbane comp before becoming a premiership winning coach with and Canberra and the Broncos. His whole coaching career hasnt been with superstar players at the broncos.

Back on the topic, Bennet's over rated, for all we know Craig Bellamy had more influence on those players :) until he left for Melbourne, and dosent he seem to get the best out of players, What Bennett isnt doing.
I think Bellamy is proof of what a good coach that Bennett is. He would have learnt a hell of a lot by working under Bennett. I just wish the Warriors got Bellamy, because i knew he was gonna be a great coach.

Im not even pissed off one bit that Mr "wooo get a mut up ya" is dissing the GREATEST coach of ALL TIME! but simply his stupid catchprase..

1. you dont need a catchprase dude, this is a message board not the WWF.

2. What the f**k is get a mut up ya, gayest saying ever.

3. Why the f**k do you write it in EVERY DAMN POST???? thats what signatures are for genius.

Usually i stick with the dickhead guy who everyone hates, but also stupid things like the 3 points above piss me off.

and another thing, one time i saw this Australian film (cant remember the title) and on the front cover it had this guy wearing a shirt that said "get a dog up ya". yet it wasnt an ordinary shirt, the letters were printed on to the shirt like how the names are printed onto the back of a footy jersey, so obviously this guy loved this saying so much that he had it printed onto a shirt so he could display this saying to everyone, and that to me is damn funny, (yes little things piss me off and in turn, little things amuse me) Thanks for ruining that asshole.
