 Oh come on its getting ridiculous. The bar keeps getting set higher for those who dare threaten those from yesteryear.
Shall we lower it just for wayne? How about winning the srcum stats in the Charity shield?
To be better than someone who won three in a row, you have to win 4 in a row. Simple.
And I thought you couldn't get any dumber. Every one of Bennett's premierships count for 2 of Gibson's. Gibson never had to worry about a salary cap in his time. The salary cap has made it so much harder to maintain success, and for Bennett to regularly win premierships over the last 20 years is a bigger acheivement than what Gibson did.
The salary cap helped Bennet at Brisbane in 3 ways. First, they were the only club that didn't have to include reserve grade in the cap. Second, lower cost of living in Brisbane compared to Sydney was a key bargaining point then - as in Dale Shearer telling Manly officials that he couldn't afford to live there. And Third, lots of third party payments - dressed up as players business investments.
In fact, if you wanna compare premierships, Gibson went back to back against the test pack in 82/83. From memory, Saints pack a decade later had 3 internationals, and none from the backs?
I haven't checked, but neither Easts or Parra under Gibson regularly had 11 test/origin players. I do recall that many in the media laughed at the pack Gibson amassed at Parra in 1981. I do recall Greg Hartley and Peter Peters saying that if Parra won the comp with Bob O'Reilly and Kevin Stevens in the pack they would walk from Wollongong to Newcastle in thongs.
Peters got his first blister just south of Bulli.
And just wait till he wins yet again in Redfern. There shouldn't be a debate know, but even for the mentally challenged the debate will be over when he gets a premierships with us.
Obviously we have to. In fact, I have been waiting since Sonia McMahon had firm tits for ANYONE to win again at Redfern.
I've also heard that the Knights and Bulldogs have confirmed they are happy with their own coaches. He's coming to Redfern. Every article about the issue now goes out of its way to say we are the favourites. The deal is as good as done.
I wonder, if I am proven right and he does come to Souths, everyone's head will explode because BunniesMan was right yet again.
BunniesMan was wrong when he thought drinking Cruisers, waxing your chest and listening to autotune-laden sook music proved that he was heterosexual.
