Email message from the Eels about conduct on Friday night.

I'm hearing whispers that banners need to be registered with the club too....

The Pirtek Parramatta Eels play host to the Melbourne Storm this Friday night. I want to make some valid points very clear to our Members & supporters, as part of an appeal to ensure we - as a very proud club - provide a positive image to all of the rugby league community on the night.

The Storm fans have been hard hit innocent bystanders in the current Melbourne Storm situation. They have shown outstanding loyalty and devotion to their team, to the degree that any NRL club would be proud of. They are no doubt hurting and we should recognise that and welcome those who have stuck by their players.

Secondly, the players do not deserve abuse from any opposing clubs' supporters. This behaviour only ta rnishes the reputation of the opposing clubs supporter base.

Our skippers Nathan Cayless and Nathan Hindmarsh, and players right through the entire NRL squad, have endorsed this message to our Members & supporters. They ask that we give the Storm the vocal parochial welcome that you would afford any team in the NRL - but nothing more! Let them know they are on our home turf and we're right behind our boys, but don't drag down our hard fought positive record as a supporter group.

Please get this message out to all those who support the Pirtek Parramatta Eels and plan to be there on Friday night. We want to be seen as club that plays by the rules on and off the field.

Any ill-directed emotion or abuse on the night will not be tolerated. Please click here to remind yourself of the Supporters Code of Conduct.

I guess the coin throwing when Jamie Lyon returned has put the club in this position. Let's hope the the Storm abuse is verbal only.

But even if it is verbal, you have to remember the Petro incident a few years ago as well.

Our crowds home reputation is not the best in the league, but I don't know of this call for restraint will be that helpful considering Mr Price's call to play for the NRL 2009 trophy.

Friday night will be interesting.

That was right near us and the crowd was not behind those few idiots, in fact, security chose not to eject them although the crowd were calling for it.

The Storm are fair game IMO, as long as you're not hurling objects or abusing their fans.

If coins are thrown then do they have to declare that under their salary cap?

I remember a few years ago at the cricket when they still had the hill, one year they tried a pre record mike whitney message on the video screen asking people to behave. Didnt work.

If someone is gonna muck up, their gonna make up. They're not going to think 'sh*t, I got that email from Osborne, I better brush up on the code of conduct'

I think what he's trying to say is valid - don't give crap to the Storm fans, because they did noting wrong but stand by their team.

I don't think he's saying we can't boo the sh*t out of the Storm team. In fact, he encourages it with his comments about the typical parochial welcome we give every team.

But for the sake of Storm fans and kids trying to watch the game I think he means don't be rude. But there's nothing wrong with booing the cheats.

Storm fans won't mind - they'll win anyway. :sarcasm:

pfffffft .... i'm sick of all the melbourne bleeding hearts .... ffs their club cheated - their fans and players need to cope with that and the sh*t that comes with it

i'm not really the yelly type myself, but I won't have any problem with anyone who wants to give it to them both guns blazing .... i don't take it personally because I am a Parra supporter and they beat us in the GF - they cheated everyone - they've cheated on the field for years and now off - about time they copped it

Exactly. They robbed us of two genuine title chances, and they've always been a filthy team, so as long as people aren't hurting them or giving it to their supporters, they're fair game!

I'll be making a banner and I hope to see plenty more around.
