Maybe you missed Phil goulds direct quotes... He said deal was done wit dragons, money was agreed... Panthers agreed to pay dragons to 200k of his salary... Then Jennings manager shot it down saying they no longer wish to deal with dragons.

Im not sure any of that was said. Link?

I read an article in the Telegraph stating that Fein will likely start next season at 7 with Soward at 6. Price is a dunce, no question and no question everyone knows it. I mean, Jennings rejecting any approach by the Dragons while being shopped around by the Panthers is certainly a slap in the face and proof top players don't want to play under Price.

Even being the dunce he is, surely, as the top of this thread states, K. Stanley will be given first chance at 5/8 and the only way Fein will be in the team is if Soward and Drinkwater suck at 1/2 or the King/Rein duo are injured.

Does anyone have some inside knowledge of the team and can honestly tell me the Telegraph story is false and as the vast majority of posters here want to see, K. Stanley will be given first chance at 5/8?

I also think criticism of C. Stanley is very harsh. After Morris or a forward using brute strength close to the line, C. Stanley always looked the most likely to do something good in attack. He dominated Matt King even in a well beaten team.

Fein supposedly says he wants to start the season at half. That doesn't mean he will. Give Price a chance to at least make up his own mind, not let Fein make it for him.

I have no doubt Soward and Stanley will be our halves if fit. But Style will probably miss the start of the season and that creates a problem. Fien will be in the team somewhere (at least at the beginning of the season) and Price wants a Rein/King hooker rotation. So I reckon Fien will be the starting half back. I'd love to see Drinkwater given a go but Fien has earned a spot in the 17 so it's either hooker (no King) or half (no Drinkwater). That's my guess.

I am told Kyle will be 100% ready for start of season and will play 5/8.

Have heard that too. Let's hope so. Does that mean King loses his spot? I like Fien but in many ways I think he will be the barometer for the Dragons next year. If he is in the team, something has gone wrong i.e. either King or Stanley have proven to be lacking and/or been injured.

I know Price likes to play conservative and clone himself on Wayne Bennett; but he needs to remember that Bennett made the tough calls with Luke Priddis. Bennett only used him when he absolutely needed him and allowed an experienced premiership winner to run around in reserve grade. He was promoted when ironically a younger and fitter player in Nathan Fien was injured. When Fien returned, it was straight back reserve grade Priddis.

Lets hope Price exercises the same logic and goes with a younger and fitter player in Cameron King; unless injured.

My mail is that Fien will start at 7 and Kyle at 3 which is where he was until he was injured. He's considered the best right centre option at this time. If we get a centre then Kyle goes to 6 and Sowie to 7.
I'm sure that Price will play with options during the trials but this seems most likely if there are no inclusions or defections

Nathan Fein could be the new Ben Hornby. I think Price will value Fein's input because of his experience. I don't care who he picks as long as it is not to the detriment of the team.

I did post earlier that Fein should let Price make up his own mind. We'll see.

Well let's hope that Price gives young drinkwater plenty of chances during the trials to show what he can do.

Who knows maybe Drinkwater can make the decision for Price either way! (by either playing very well or very poor)

I hope this isn't true.

Same... Besides the fact that Kyle aint a centre and it would be a detriment to him, I fail to see how he is better then his brother in the centres.

Exactly. Chase finished the year well too in my opinion. All I would like next year is everyone play their specialist position.

See that makes no sense to me. Kyle is a very good defensive centre but offers not much in attack. His skill set is suited to five eight. Chase has much more scope as a centre than his brother does.

Fien is in his final season. Kyle is the heir apparent in the halves and Drinkwater has massive potential (and only signed on a two year contract). If we do that we weaken two spots. We tried it before and it didn't work. Surely Price will have learned from this year's mistakes.

I'm not saying that it makes sense. I am saying that this is what I'm told is plan A if not set in stone and that an alternate outside back is a preferred option.

Personally I reckon that it's long odds that either of the Stanley boys will complete an NRL season with 15 games or more played unless they consult with a sports rehab guru who can mitigate what appears to be genetic weaknesses. Damn shame and maybe it's just bad luck but some bodies aren't built for the ongoing rigours of first grade rugby league

At last! Finally someone else on the forum prepared to take the rose coloured glasses off. Neither of these guys have played out a season in any form of the game yet; be it first grade, reserve grade, toyota cup etc.

We pay these guys good money and they take up a spot in the squad that go to a player that will play more than half a season here and there. I don't blame the club for persisting to an extent because of the obvious potential, but lets face it, sooner or later something has to give. We can't have centres being run down by front rowers and a five eight who looked good in one match against Souths three years ago but done nothing since.

Unless they stay fit for an extended period of time (and even then I worry about the lack of pace due to knee injuries) should we continue to build for the future with these two.
