Yes yes, lol@souffs and all that...

Back on topic, what we can take from Brad Arthur's great work with the Manly defence isn't that we need him as head coach, its that we need SOMEONE as a good defensive coach...Price can't do it, Folkes couldn't do it and McGregor won't be able do, but someone needs to come along and teach these guys how to be brutal in defence. Guys like DeBelin, Creagh, Friz, Merrin all have the technique to be punishing defenders, but we lack attitude and it needs to be drilled into them.

Roosters have Fitzgibbon, Manly have Arthur and they are the best defensive teams in the comp!

Price MIGHT be able to coach our current side to score points (after all, he won a NYC premiership and that's all about attack) but he sure as hell cant make them commit in defense, so we need SOMEONE who can.

You'd never know my dad's a souths fan. white collar job, white collar demeanour; everything points to him being a latte sipping easts fan (loves his coffee too). I personally don't understand the hate we have for souths. I just find it hard to hate a team that's been in the pits for so long. Someone please explain it to me!

My mate who I've known for 20 or so years is a Souffs man,and I didn't know he hated the Dragons until 2010.We have sat through so many games over the years, even when they were kicked out, felt sympathy, but no more.
We have rivalry now.LOL@5ouffs.

I think people are forgetting that Saints fans were very much the same before we broke out drought. We used to always act like dead certainties throughout the year. It's why we have a reputation for being the most arrogant club; however, I think perceived arrogance is the mark of any great club. I like Russell. Good actor, and he's really passionate. He's not some rich investor just in there to make some buck.

And their current predicament is very reminiscent of us during the noughties. Heartbreak after heartbreak after heartbreak.

Russell Crowe threatened to quit and sell out from Souths early in the year but has since stayed on. I wonder after last night's loss how strong his resolve would be to continue as IMO they were deadset certainties to make their first GF in 40 plus years.

I'm divided on this.
Loyal die hards like Nicks dad i sympathise.

There is the new fan base, as mentioned, that thought this year was a given.
I suppose we were the same in 05/06/09.

Just shows how hard it is with the salary cap to win a comp.
Everyone i know picked the bunnies. Love or hate Manly, 4 grand finals in 7 years is
something special.

A loss like yesterday... 14 nil up, will hurt.
It did for us in 99, and we took years to rebound.

Very sad to hear about Madge's mum.

Well I don't know what to say. Went to the game and it broke my heart to see dad so devastated. He's just a normal bloke who hates no team and sees everything with objectivity. He hasn't seen his team make a final for 43 years. They're just like st George used to be. But they have no plan b once the forwards lose their battle. But ffs... Blowing a 14-0 lead in the prelim? And what a shit day for Madge. His mum passed away this morning. And then sees his players capitulate in the second half. They choked.

I have nothing against Souths as a Club/team, it's their half-hearted bandwagoner fairweather fans who show up out of f**king nowhere at the drop of a hat when things are all rosy. They are pathetic, and yes remind me of all the plastic Chelski fans from the Abramovic era.

OT: Really soured by the thought of another rookie coach tbh.

To be honest, and I'm being dead honest here, I did not find there to be many bandwagoning Souths fans. I find teams like Bulldogs, Roosters and Tigers to be farrrrrrr worse, probably more so the Roosters, closey followed by Tigers, who's fans came out of NOWHERE after 2005. The massive Dogs bandwagon last year was also very irritating.

I agree. Tigers are the WORST, then Dogs.

Thank god I was not able to watch it. The TV may have been thrown across the living room. Instead it was just a radio. The only good thing was that at the time I did not know anyone that supported them. If it were say the Roosters I may have had to neck myself

If only the game could've ended at half time 14-0 up!

Oh well, 2009 and 2010 was worth it all.

And it could be much worse, could be Bunnies eh?
