As far as tradition goes I think in a way we've moved on from those old days. Just as parents don't get a say in who you end up with
Some people are very traditional though. I think the majority of us have moved on, but if you're getting married into a traditional family, and you KNOW that, don't come in DEMANDING they pay for your wedding. I think that is just rude. For example, if I was her and my parents would only pay for half, I would be working at getting the other half myself (with my fiance). It's not a good start to your life together to alienate your in-laws!
Ohhhhh I love Lebanese food. I hate the long ass ceremonies though.
Last one I went to was a Spit Roast
A view of water. Wow. That'll get boring after 5 minutes. I am hopeful that at a wedding, people are spending their time inside and not just enjoying the view. The Sylvania franchise has a much better layout inside (it is a proper reception centre, not a converted centre like JBW), and saving $50 pp is more than worth in.Jone Bay Wharf has a great atmosphere and view, Sylvania Waters has a view of a round about.
Lebanese wedding ceremonies usually only go for about 30 mins (45 if you include the traditional late-arrival of the bride), but if you include an actual mass with the wedding ceremony, then it'll blow out to 90 mins.Ohhhhh I love Lebanese food. I hate the long ass ceremonies though.

I've been to 5 weddings at Doltone House, which include 4 in Sylvania, and the worst of the 4 at Sylvania is better than the one at JBW.
Some people here are missing the point. The THEORY of telling people what to give you is what I find off. Gifts / money should not even be in people's heads when planning a wedding / engagement. Get what you are given.
You are celebrating your union. Expecting people to fork out for your special day is just plain wrong.
