we had Aerosmith - I don't want to miss a thing, as my wife walked down the aisle, Kiss - I finally found my way, whilst we signed the registry and Jimmy Barnes - Signed sealed delivered, as we walked out. Our first dance was to Lonestar - Amazed
Register signing - From This Moment - Shania Twain (she's Canadian, so she's ok)
Reception Entry - Kung Fu Fighting - Carl Douglas
Bridal "Waltz" - Ain't That Enough - Teenage Fanclub (I proposed to her during this song at the TFC show at the Metro the year before)
I used to be a DJ that worked wedding receptions as well as playing in a band that played wedding receptions.
Ive seen heard and played all the cliches but some still crack me up.
How anyone can think that songs like "I honestly love you" and "time of my life" or "endless love" deserve a place at a wedding are kidding me.
In saying this, there is nothing better than playing in a band or DJing a wedding when all the guests get tanked and you bust out the party classics like Blister in the Sun, Love Shack and 1999. good times.
Not that I'm getting married but it'd be "Somewhere Between" by Merle Haggard for when the bride comes in...I was bought up on the Slim Dusty version but Merle at a wedding would be so much better1
Somewhere between me and you
I love you so much I can't let you go
And sometimes I believe you love me
But somewhere between your heart and mine
There's a door without any key
Somewhere between your heart and mine
There's a window that I can't see through
There's a wall so high it reaches the sky
Somewhere between me and you
Somewhere between your heart and mine
There's a love I can't understand
Oh it's there for a while and it fades like a smile
And I'm left in the middle again
Somewhere between your heart and mine
There's a window that I can't see through
There's a wall so high it reaches the sky
Somewhere between me and you
Somewhere between me and you...
Second choice would have to be "So What?" by The Living End.
