I understand and very much appreciate your thoughts, with that said, I would like to hopefully clarify some perceptions.
  • The Cronulla Board and Football Committee signed Cameron McInnes - not a soul in the Rugby League world knew about it. It was a total shock when it was announced.
  • The Club had been in private negotiations with Craig Bellamy - again, it was completely unknown until Craig himself mentioned a "Sydney Club" then Cronulla confirmed. Please remember it was Bellamy that mentioned it to the media.
  • The Craig Fitzgibbon situation was leaked by the Roosters - not Cronulla.
I would be in 100% agreeance with you if Bomber was still under contract.

Please let me offer this thought as well. If I have a one year contract remaining with my Employer and I approach them for an extension and they so "No" - I can assure you that I am not sitting back waiting to see what transpires. I would be looking for new opportunities ASAP.

It is amazing how disrespected our Club is by the media - Peter Overton made a comment on the news tonight about "Who would want to work at Cronulla?" on the back of the Sharks story. It was offensive.

The Cronulla Board and Football Committee have done a magnificent and brilliant job in keeping negotiations quiet in a 24/7 news cycle of Rugby League.

Fully respect your comments and I thank you for understanding mine. But the way I see it is that John Morris’ future seems to have been decided long before now. The club never ever intended to keep him on and that’s clear now, I really feel like he wasn’t given a proper chance. Sure the Roosters game happened but do you think us winning that game would have saved his job? I don’t.

“Woke” is basically a derogatory term for ultra-leftist.

e.g. American Democrats; arty-farty Hollywood types.

It arose when some people started saying, “I just got woke”, as in “I have been awakened from my slumber!”
Oh ok haha thought it might have been abbreviation etc

Question.

With Hannay as interim, Fitz still working at Roosters until Nov and half our squad off contract after this year, surely lots will be exploring their options elsewhere for 2022. Who's in charge & makes the call to re-sign them?

Answer:

The same person/ Committee that signed Cameron McInnes.

Although Fitzgibbon will still be with the Roosters, he will be guiding player contracts through Darren Mooney.

He will be setting up for next season on days off, they will communicate via email, phones and Tinder.

Ovaries that’s funny lol hang on the news media industry sack people everyday, would have said who want to become a journalist for any media outlet...
Pete Overton shouldn’t throw stones in glass newsrooms, ask his old mate Mark Fergusson, who Pete went out of his way to deride, knife and eventually got him boned from Nine and ended up with the top newsreader job in Sydney.
Don’t feel too bad for Ferguson, he is now his opposition on the 7 network.
End of the day, same same but not that different..

Tinder. Wouldn't surprise me if he was involved in a scandal before he starts. Its the sharks after all

I figured this but with such a huge portion of our squad off contract there's a lot of balls in the air for 2022 for a coach to make decisions around players he doesn't really know, and decisions for players around a coach they don't really know. Huge responsibility for the board to keep our young guns and make smart moves around the Dugan, Woods etc brigade

Morris will be fine. There will be plenty of coaches probably looking for a new job this season, and he has the runs on the board.

Wouldn't mind him coming to Wests to help Madge out.

Will be interested to see how Fitzy fares for you guys.

i doubt clubs will be falling over themselves to sign up the Dugans, woods etc. you would think if fitzgibbon wants to keep them and they are offered a downgraded contract whatever plan the board has in place would be explained to them also. If they don’t want to stay, there’s the door..

You’d also have to think Fitzgibbon would already have a pretty good idea of who he’d want to keep around, so phone numbers are probably being exchanged as we speak.. probably be a few photos popping up of coffee’s between him and the rudolfs/talakai’s etc.. hopefully Johnson.

I actually think he will end up at you guys or Parramatta. None of us here will bad mouth him, he has been great at bringing the young fellas through. Something that both the Tigers and Eels need.

Woods will get an offer. Dugan doubtful. Chambers cheaper.

Without trying to hijack your thread, he wouldn't be a bad consideration. He seems to have a good repertoire with players and seems to get the best out of them.

I do hope we persist with Madge though as I would like him to win over the playing group, despite me having reservations about his use of the bench and ability to get the guys up for game day.
