Well I’ll be f**ked.....
I’ll buy that for a dollar lolWell I’ll be f**ked.....
OK enough hints. Might let something really good slip.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Inf, I thought you were smarter than that.
Hey mate. Read that out loud to yourself. It doesn't concern you the person in charge of retention and signings won't be at the club until after all the decisions regarding signings and retention are made?
Don't you think the decisions regarding retention at least are more complicated?
I get your concerns mate but Fitz is a smart operator.... will have a huge input into every signing and retention. It doesn't concern you the person in charge of retention and signings won't be at the club until after all the decisions regarding signings and retention are made?

I was gutted at first for Bomber too Cardy but the idea has grown on me over the last couple of days. More than half the squad are playing for contracts so I think the effort will still be there. It will give the club the chance to have a proper clean out which I think Bomber was going to struggle to do given his loyalties. I think once we start hearing of a few of the important retentions and a couple of new signings we’ll all have peace of mind.I haven’t been following this shit, I think it’s ridiculous not giving Morris another 2 years but replacing him with a virgin coach...but whatever....
I thought it must be straight away but then I see Josh Hannah as caretaker??
They can’t be serious!
What a way to f**k a season!!
Makes me wonder if Fifi was his way of proving to the powers to be that he could make those tough calls but at the end of the day that he couldn’t make those sort of calls with his mates. That presser where he said goalkicking didn’t cost us the game was very telling imo. Should’ve just said.... Yeah Chad had a shocker with the boot but we’ll all move on.Look it had to be done.
With a lot of the squad ageing we could only afford to carry one older bloke, or two, or none at all, otherwise the results would have been at best the same, more than likely they’d decline. Is anyone confident that Bomber could have pulled the trigger on a few besides Fifita? I’m not.
The board was pro active, sort the best coaches possible that are on the market and started a new era, with a whole new set of goals.
Have a look at all the other NRL clubs and the woes a lot of them are in. Would any of us be happy if we were to slide deep into mediocrity yet again??
I sure as shit don’t want that.
I applaud the board and Dino for being precise, to the point, and mostly, for being decisive.
I hope for all our sake that it works.
The only example that "he would have moved on most" was him agreeing that SJ was worth 800k a year for two years, so if you think that makes sense then all power to you. The management thought otherwise. Actually Morris signing Chad with a PO for two years is another example, both decisions actually make no sense. All those older players were off contract. He would have moved on most and if he re-signed any it would have been for cheaper.
That’s just common sense. He wouldn’t have got where he is without some idea about that. He’s never even been able to do anything with his squad and he’s done well. That should be considered a positive attribute for him, not a negative.
I just don’t get this way of thinking. What in the actual f**k did you want him to do given the scenario? It’s f**king mind boggling

Try again in the devils advocate role.

SJ and his management were asking for this a while ago, a long way off his comeback, not in their plans to wait and see how he goes.Johnson has probably been one of our better players. I don’t think it’s an outrageous offer for a half. He’s one of the guys I would actually want to keep. I would like to see how he goes when he comes back though, which it seems was the plan.
Anyway it’s a nice antidote given by one side. The whole point of having a recruitment and retention committee is to sit down and discuss. But John was supposedly locked out of them anyway, so what’s the point
The "if's" game. His management haven't been playing "if's", they have been seeking out other clubs, which is exactly what they should be doing, but that "if" could be very big. Yes he was very good for us last year, but the year before he wasn't worth that cash.If Johnson comes back from his injury in the same form he was last year when he got injured, 800k is cheap. Luke brookes is on 900k+
On the market now? None I can think of, but the pieces of the puzzle haven't been finalised yet, so who becomes available when the dust settles will change dramatically.Playing devils advocate.
who's a better option at 800k than Johnson?
