Firstly, I’m sure his internal conversations are very different to a press conference. When are people going to realise that?

It doesn’t do any good to say that. I’m sure Chad didn’t mean to miss the goals. Saying he kicked shit isn’t going to help the situation at all.

We would have f**ked up more things than just the goal kicking in that game. There’s probably a million more tangible things the team can work on (defensive structures etc).

A goal kick is a specialist action and always a lottery. You can have a lottery where your odds are better based on the individual kicker, but it’s still a lottery.

Just saying “this guy f**ked it for us lol” is not a constructive way to coach a group.

People can see with the score that if we got the goals the result could be different. Having the coach pile on and belittle an individual isn’t productive
Whoa Nelly.... wasn’t suggesting Chad deliberately missed the goals or that Bomber belittle him. Sometimes a bit of ownership when something turns to shit is a positive. As BBB suggested.... the two year option in Chads favour and that particular press conference would seem to suggest that Chad was a bit of a protected species. Only an opinion mate.... sorry if it offends you.

If Johnson comes back from his injury in the same form he was last year when he got injured, 800k is cheap. Luke brookes is on 900k+
If Johnson comes back the same player... this is a big 'if'. Johnson is modifying his game from the explosive runner he was earlier in his career. This injury will mean he has to modify his game further as his explosive speed is likely to be diminished. He is an excellent player and one I would like to see kept so long as he shows he can be effective in his comeback. From there, it is all about the right valuation of the contract.

Benchmarking player valuations to the the worst run organisation in the comp is not a smart way to operate.

I’d be wrapped if they locked in Reynolds for 2 or 3 years now and let SJ.... Moyza and Chad battle it out knowing that there is only one starting position available in the halves. I also think that 800k is not overs for SJ if he returns well from his injury.

Which fkn peanut signed off on giving Chad a 2 year extension in HIS favour!? That’s fkn mind boggling. He’s gonna f**k us and stink up the salary cap for another 2 years while he parades around on his vlog/YouTube/podcast saying lessssgoooo thinking his shit don’t stink.

Maybe. We don’t even know what he’s on though. It could be a bad deal but it’s not the type to completely f**k your cap. it’s one player- not the 5 or 6 of his predecessor...

2 years of player options seems very odd. This is the only known element of this deal and its hard to fathom how this works for the club. The next couple of months will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Yep, agreed. It’s a baffling option to have in a contract.

yeah I get all that, that’s why I used the word “if” just like if he doesn’t come back from injury well he can take the rumoured 400k or leave. I agree with the club waiting on his return from injury.

Considering Chad went to market with his chest pumped up prancing around looking for a massive offer from another club....which never eventuated.
Whoever played the joker card of a two year option should be shot from a cannon into Botany Bay

Reckon the two year option will be in the Jets if he enacts it.

Probably just a year before he asks for a release to go somewhere else.

I think Chad won't take to playing for the Jets very well, he's all about his image etc.

He'll be telling his grandkids about the time he got dumped during that Raiders game in 2016. Can you imagine how long he'll hold onto being dumped to the Jets.

Chads option is apparently very cap friendly, so we wouldn't have too much of a hit if he does pick it up. Wouldn't be the worst back up, although, there is talk of a better utility coming as well.

This.

Achilles injuries are bloody hard to come back from. SJ seems like a pro, and he appears to have been taking rehab seriously (unlike say Moyza during his struggles) so i'm backing him to come back and play well, but he's going to be at best 90% of the player he used to be.

Which can still mean he's bloody good, but for $800k plus a year, you need to be a highly consistent star of the team.

Personally i'd sign him for 2 years @750k per year. He has a pro attitude to training and the rest of it, so i think he's worth it. But i wouldn't be signing either duges or moyza if we got SJ.

If Reynolds is seriously considering a switch to us. There is no way in hell he comes across knowing he is playing foil to CT. Hopefully SJ recovers well ANNND wants to stay. Reynolds and SJ in the halves would be dynamite.

If not, then I'm happy to settle for Reynolds and Munster.

I have to agree a sane person would not sign off on that

Reynolds and SJ, move on Moyza and Chad would be a great change. But i wouldn't want Reynolds for more than 2 years.
moyza might be handy backup in halves on coin similar to Benji on a one year deal.
That decision on how he goes rest of year and games played
