Souths and Penrith can stay in Sydney. Souths rebrand as the Sydney Rabbitohs and everybody in the surrounding areas will eventually support them. Penrith rebrand as Western Sydney Panthers, and in time the western Sydney population will support them. Both teams should aim to be getting 50K average crowds within a decade with the extra support to rival the Swans (who are the #1 team in Sydney- just look at the crowds and memberships, you don't have to live in Sydney or spend any time there to see this fact).

The other clubs clogging up Sydney and holding back the NRL can relocate as follows:

Singapore Sea Eagles
Beijing Dragons (the tie-in with the Dragon will be a huge plus, the people of Beijing will flock to this team. Build a 100k seater stadium to accommodate the crowds they will get every second weekend)
Mumbai Sharks
Tokyo Tigers
Johannesburg Eels
Dubai Bulldogs
Los Angeles Roosters

If the NRL stops being so short-sighted, they can relocate these teams and give them the support they need for the first 5-10 years until they're fully viable and the NRL will become 10x bigger than what it is now. We'll have rivalries every weekend between international cities that will be up there with Cowboys v Broncos which is (currently) the only true rivalry the NRL has.

Just need blinkered Sydneysiders to wake up and stop holding the game of Rugby League back!
Thats the worst attempt at "reductio ad absurdum" I've ever seen, and an even worse attempt at parody.

But hey, 5/10 for trying... ;)

For a month

then when they keep losing they will turn on him

if Benji does get involved in the coaching yeh that might buy them a year lol
RL journos are about as bad as UK music magazines were in the 1990s - build someone up, slam them down.

But hey, draws in the readers/viewers, yeah?

Most expansion clubs struggle.

I think The Dolphins will be competitive.

Teams coached by Bennett use a low risk game plan based around few offloads, lots of hit ups and strong defence. Bennett has assembled a quality forward pack and strong outside backs that can put together hit up after hit up to get their halves in a position to kick the ball deep down the other end of the field. He'll focus on getting the little things right, like winning the ruck and defending as a unit. They won't be a great team to watch, but they won't get blown away.
If they have a reasonable platform (defence, ruck control, a decent goal kicker), then they just need to find some creative players as icing on the top, that'll make the difference between maybe making the 8 to "certainly top 8, maybe top 4".

They might not have them in their first season or two (haven't had long enough lead-in time to recruit), but if they're solidly mid-table in 2023-4, they'll attract that talent after that.

I like their mix of getting elite juniors. It ensures they can be competitive now and build towards the future

Plus their own pathways will kick in by then and they won’t have to panic buy and can plan for the future

the dolphins are going to be the 2nd biggest club behind the broncos. Slam dunk

Munster to be the highest paid player in the game as the dolphins copy what the afl did with their tv deal to fit him in under the cap

I hope he goes. It would make the Dolphins competitive and the Storm would be able to recover (their recruitment/talent identification is incredible)

Poor storm could’ve kept nycho on 500k and beefed up the rest of the team

DOLPHINS MAKE SPLASH AS NRL’S NEW CORPORATE KINGS

The Dolphins have joined the Broncos as the financial kings of the NRL, amassing a staggering $10 million corporate empire ahead of their premiership debut next season.

The Courier-Mail can reveal the Dolphins have usurped big guns Melbourne, Penrith, South Sydney and the Roosters with a sponsorship portfolio that vindicates the NRL’s decision to include the much-maligned 17th franchise.

The sponsorship revelations come as the Dolphins slammed criticism of their recruitment and ARL Commission boss Peter V’landys blasted detractors of the Dolphins, backing super coach Wayne Bennett to deliver a finals campaign in their foundation season in 2023.

Dolphins boss Terry Reader confirmed the new franchise is already the second richest team in the league when it comes to corporate support, turning up the heat on Sydney’s posse of cash-strapped clubs.

“Our playing kit (sponsorship) is fully sold and we are travelling very well commercially,” Reader said.

“Our sponsorship book is very healthy and we will probably start next year at number two behind the Broncos in sponsorship revenue based on the last benchmarking results the NRL did.

“There is a good appetite for the Dolphins and we’ve built programs people want to be part of. Given Brisbane has been a one-team town for so long, a lot of companies have been locked out (of sponsorship opportunities).

“There is a lot of interest and we’ve signed some blue-chip companies from day one.”
