The NRL media will write off a side relentlessly like this for months, and then suddenly jump on the bandwagon if it turns out they were wrong.
Poll on news ltd website has a majority thinking they will get the spoon 48 percent then 42 percent saying bottom eight

Bennetts back to the wall... nothing better to see than him circle those wagons... im betting 8th or 9th... easily a pass mark considering the time given to put together said squad.... hell if they make 13th to me thats a pass mark, not many expansion clubs have gotten past 2nd last first year, in the history of this competition

Hmm chance to be coached by bennett or seibold

this train wreck could deliver the dolphins a side which can make the finals now
> Tom, here's your options:

Side A is located on the Peninsula, has history going back to 1947 and plenty of Premierships to their name. You'll be coached by Anthony Siebold.

Side B is located on the Peninsula, has history going back to 1947 and plenty of Premierships to their name. You'll be coached by Wayne Bennett.

What's your choice?

If Siebold coaches Manly then the Dolphins won't have to worry about getting the spoon in their first season.

It was a condition of the QRL that both the NRL & QRL affiliated club couldn't have the exact same name and also be run as a separate entity.

If the NRL club went with Redcliffe in their name, they'd forfeit their Hostplus Cup & other senior competitions licenses, which of course they didn't want to do.

Now the outcome may have been the same even if the QRL didn't make this a standing point, but this is one of the reasons the club currently isn't Redcliffe (or Moreton Bay).

As for the moniker, why wouldn't you use Dolphins? It's well suited to a Queensland team, hence Gold Coast wanting to use it, it is one of those animals that is appealing/cute enough for kids, but adults won't have an issue wearing and they can still cash in on their QCup history.

IMO it's better than Firehawks, which we all know would have been Tigers if Wests weren't in the competition, or Bombers and Jets.

It's true they're separate entities: well, technically the Redcliffe Dolphins created a subsidiary entity that fields an NRL team. But I don't understand why any league would mandate a name change and/or enforce separate entities between state league and national league. The Sydney NRL clubs have their own exact same named state league clubs too, literally their reserves team. Why couldn't Redcliffe promote to the NRL and have the Redcliffe state team as its reserves? I might be wrong, but i reckon the name change isn't mandated, but them and/or NRL more worried about establishing a second Brisbane team that all of Brisbane can get behind....and that they're wrong to think that like Port Adelaide was wrong to think that.

Probably thinking Manly and Cronulla. Promoted clubs in small enclaves. The litmus tests for THE Dolphins will be their crowds at Suncorp against clubs with little support in Brisbane. 18k plus crowds there and the negativity is ill founded. 20k members to start.
Anything less and I think we can agree its not the best decision ever made.
So far the theory that there are lots of sponsors in Qlnd waiting for another club has proven to be correct so thats a big positive. Now we will have to see if the 'lots of fans waiting for an alternative to Broncos' is true.
They're not The Dolphins.

They are the Dolphins. There is no The in their name you sad, illiterate fool so your 6000 posts stating this are, like the pert reds/pirates null and void.

Once again a thread derailed by the nuts from the expansion forum who can't get over the fact their fantasies didn't come to fruition.

The jersey is not great.

how dare you be so negative about the jersey, it’s nut jobs like you with your constant negative opinions at this great new clubs kit that keep derailing threads because they didn’t do what you liked. Lol
