With you 100%. Sydney born and bred but the comp is called NRL.. N for national.. sorry this is not a national game.. how can it be when all teams are from Eastern Seaboard states. WA or Perth Quokkas sounds ok prefer the Western Big Reds. Like West Coast Pirates too.
To be fair when they started with the name national rugby league, there was Adelaide And Melbourne, the following year the Rams went under, so only the lack of presence in Perth was the problem, then Adelaide, theres really no other area to the west of Melbourne you would have a team.
The only 2 i can think of is darwin and geelong, but i don't think it will be too long before Adelaide and Perth rejoin the ranks

“We’ve gotta go to Perth” | Gordie Pushes Back on New Franchise

Is the NRL truly the N-R-L? Without a presence anywhere west of AAMI Park the ‘national’ competition really hasn’t earned the title, not at least in the eyes of Gordie Tallis.

With the topic of expansion constantly at the forefront of any discussion to grow the game the Broncos legend is worried that a seventeenth team, specifically a second team in Brisbane, would only dilute the competition.

Speaking on The Rush Hour Queenslander with Dobbo Tallis told listeners that if the game were to take growing its brand seriously taking a team to Perth would be the smartest option.

“Why does it have to be here?” Tallis asked.

“If we’re serious about being the NRL, we have to be national”

if Brisbane2 is needed to allow Perth to become the NRL’s 18th franchise then I can live with this but either way Perth has to be one of them.

Why

Why we need a decent genuine second division!
A NSW Cup that's comparable to the Qld Cup (a mix of traditional Sydney clubs & regional sides) would be great - especially if it has the same number of teams as Qld Cup, and we get the odd round of "inter-league" play - maybe around Origin time, with the NRL on pause.

I’d prefer to see a reserve grade and a genuine second division Rather than a hotch potch of aligned clubs that make the comp pointless to support And impossible for non alligned clubs to join and compete.

It's a good point you make. We'd have a pretty dynamic comp that could be sold for TV rights too. Don't know what the right number of teams is but there are plenty to choose from and there is a good mix of national and international options:

- PNG Hunters
- Kaiviti Silktails
- Pacifique XIII
- Wellington
- Christchurch
- Northern Pride
- Central QLD Capras
- Mackay Cutters
- Sunshine Coast Falcons
- Redcliffe Dolphins
- North Brisbane Devils
- Brisbane Tigers
- Souths Logan Magpies
- Wynnum Manly Seagulls
- Ipswich Jets
- Burleigh Bears
- Tweed Seagulls
- Central Coast Roos
- North Sydney Bears
- Newtown Jets
- Illawarra Steelers / Cutters
- West Coast Pirates

Clubs can be added to the NRL from here as we choose to expand.

Soccer getting a new HQ and CofE in Perth. so that's; athletics, basketball, Union, AFL and now soccer all with new HQ and CofE's in Perth. Meanwhile the NRLWA are still crammed in tiny offices underneath the stand at HBF Park!
