Imagine a strike pair of Cole and Zamora.. That ought to have opposition defenders throughout the land shaking in their boots...

*Sigh*

It's going to be a long season, isn't it?

Hopefully Bellamy will be back so we don't see that type of pairing up front...

So SUnderland this week.. Thankfully it appears that Bellamy is back but as already pointed out Ashton won't be there... Not sure who will partner Bellamy up front, Camara may be fit so hopefully it's him and not cole.

Freddie hurt himself in warming up for Sweden, surprise surprise, so he is in doubt, otherwise it will be as per the last dismal game..

Even with this squad and not in good form and with non existant defence i think a win at home is likely... If they can't win this they have no hope of a top half of the table finish..

Cmon you Irons !!

Surely we've got what's necessary to put Sunderland away. I realise they've played well this year and have plenty of fighting spirit, but we're at home and desperate for a win. I'm guessing a 1-0 win.

You'd think so.. But it is West Ham and many years of supporting them has taught me to assume nothing with them.. Look at last year, maximum points against Man U and Arsenal but nothing against a number of lowly clubs including a 6-0 loss to reading....

It's never borring being a Hammers fan... Frustrating as f*ck but never borring...

What time's the game tonight, btw? I'm too lazy to get up and turn Austar on so I can check the TV Guide.

Half Time 1-0 to the Hammers... And holy crap a goal from Carlton Cole... It was an odd looking goal but all i care about is that he finally got one to hit the back of the net..

We never ever score from set pieces from penalties or from corners for some reason, it's rare that they even get close most of the time...

Anyhow, not a very inspiring half of football but happy with the result so far...

There is no way West Ham deserved to win that.. But somehow they did...

3-1 is extremely flattering and doesn't reflect what happened in the game...

It's 3 points in the end i suppose...

Christ, I cannot believe we came away with the three points - let alone a 3-1 win. I tuned in after our first goal had been scored and watched as Sunderland dominated us for the next hour or so of play. Really, we should have lost it 2-1, but somehow came away as convincing 3-1 winners on paper.

We looked good raiding down the left with McCartney/Etherington/Boa Morte - but our right side was considerably less impressive. Our central defence had no idea how to deal with Jones, either. Christ, he was impressive.

Thank God for Rob Green and for the luck we didn't have last year but apparently do this year.

Great substitutions by your manager.
1 minute you looked gone and then the two subs came on and made the difference.

Yeah, they really did breathe some fire into the game - much as the addition of two forwards at half-time had for Sunderland. The second half was great, end to end stuff. We didn't look great, but thanks to Rob Green and Mark Noble, we managed to hold on and take our chances when they came.

Wait a second! Let me get this straight. Carlton Cole scored? Has he been tested for steroids? Was it his twin? Wa it really him that scored? Man I'm freaked out!

To be fair, it just kind of came off his head and went in. I'm sure he didn't even know we were taking a set piece.

It wasn't was it? I am sure it came from play down the left side as per usual, that's how most of our goals have been scored this season..

He kind of jumped in the air and it hit him in the side of the head and went in...
