Imagine what wests could do if our billionaire life time member decided to do something with his spare change. The merkin could buy out politis, Crowe etc 10 times over, and still have a bit left over the buy the NRL!

He already pumps money into the club

And the club said "no thanks" because they didnt need him to, because they arent broke, and can stand on their own two feet.

You see how it works?
Who, Balmain?

How much money did the joint venture get for folding their clubs?

Souths still survive and are a powerhouse without selling its history out to appease corporate masters.

Balmain and Western Suburbs don't.

You see how that works?

Roosters are setting the bar for how a Sydney Club should be run.

Souffs have had 5 years or so of dodgy dealings including cover ups regarding Burgii and Gi that IMO will catch up with them. If they let Reynolds go, IMO it is the closing of their window and we will see the truth of the matter.
The Roosters have billionaire Politis's endless pockets and paper bags.

That's how a club should be run?

Don't worry I'm sure Benny'll be back in 12 months to buy your club again when it's a bit cheaper.

Maybe Dawn Fraser can raise some money by doing some laps.

All reasonable points, but please re-read, all of this was being applied 3 years prior to Superleague
You mean after the Superleague clubs eg Sharks all received 9 million each and then applied the criteria of how much money they had in the bank?

Even then Balmain finished above Panthers.

Look at them now.

Fun fact: The subjective criteria used to determine the 14-team competition differentiated sponsorship from grants, with only sponsorship being considered for inclusion. Money from Panthers Leagues Clubs, owned by and for the benefit of the Penrith Panthers, was considered sponsorship. Meanwhile, money from Souths Juniors, an affiliated but separate entity to the South Sydney Rabbitohs, was considered a grant. If the Penrith money was considered a grant, and the Souths money was considered a sponsorship – a determination more logical than what actually occurred – that last golden ticket would’ve been redistributed to Redfern.

I wouldn't bother trying to explain it to him Spock. Tiger 5150 is obviously still bitter that the Tigers didn't have the guts to take up Souths offer when we went to them and asked them to stand alongside us and fight for their identity. Instead they took the cowards way out and the rest is history. As the saying goes,"You reap what you sow".

One thing about the afl is they kept the Victorian identity of the merged clubs

Swans/South Melbourne still basically the same jersey.

Brisbane play in Fitzroy colours in Melbourne.
Guess more along the lines of a takeover ala what the dragons have done

Well Balmain tried to get in bed with everyone including Gold Coast, Adelaide and Brisbane Easts.

They seem to treat their members like trash as well.

No surprise....No soul - no loyalty - no identity - no culture - ho history - no home - only care about $$$$$$$$

No wonder their players play like they do.

Then they blame the coach for trying to dress up a turd.

Politis stopped giving money to the club when he took over management and City Ford was no longer the major sponsor. He brought business acumen and corporate professionalism to get us to the position we’re in now. Your accusation is just lazy and defamatory. You currently have an owner under investigation for dodgy business practices, so look in your own backyard first.

You’re right in that it shouldn’t be viewed as a business template for managing a club because not every club can be as lucky as us.

I’ve read that Politis has also been buying stuff and gifting it to the Roosters to build up their asset base to set them up for when he departs.

His target is half a billion dollars worth of assets before he retires. He uses the club’s finances however. The only thing he gifts is his time and expertise.

where did you read that? From roosters accounts published it doesn’t look that way.

western Sydney magpies playing full time out of a redeveloped Campbelltown owned by west’s Ashfield 100% and West Coast Tigers playing 9 games in perth and 3 at Leichhardt owned by Sage but with balmain jnrs as part of its feeder system. Nrl solves a number of problems it has with this scenario,
