wests to split from tigers

Messages

i heard from reliable source that wests will split from the tigers and strike up a deal with the bulldogs and play at a revamped campbelltown stadium from 2010.

bascially wests are only part of the name and have no real input into the nrl side of it - also canberra's excess nrl players will play for wests in premier league.

the above should have been the merge in any case with the tigers merging with souths and norths back in and based on the central coast

Just out of curiosity, have you ever been told anything that has actually happened?

Reading your 'scoops' come across more like your opinion, but you don't wish to put it that way for some pissy reason.

Have you got a viable source for proving any of this correct, other than "Some guy told me"?

Not that reliable a source obviously.

You did get the Canberra bit right I suppose. About a month after the Canberra CEO announced it on ABC radio.

The rest, well is there anything more unlikely than no chance whatsoever?

Canterbury?
More chance of us joining with Manly.

face the facts canberra excess players will play for wests meaning NO wests player will play NRL nor will the coaches have anything to do with the NRL side- The excess wests tiger players will play for the balmain ryde premier league side. You will merge with bulldogs and that is 100%

ahhh, so it is your opinion and not something you heard.

You shouldn't try to pass your opinion off as fact, considering how far from the truth your 'sources'/opinions are.

Wrong. If a junior comes up through Wests Magpies and is good enough, he'll be named as part of the Wests Tigers squad where, if he drops back to PL again, he'll play for Balmain Ryde. If they're good enough at wests, they will progress to wests tigers. simple.

And Wests to Bulldogs? Why? Why destroy the only merger that has actually worked?

Without taking into account this thread is quite laughable, what happens if Chris Lawrence gets injured/plays dreadfully and gets dropped to Premier League? If not players are dropping back to the Magpies where does he go? He certainly isn't being alligned with Balmain next year.

Chris will drop back to BRET same as all the rest of the players in the Wests Tigers top 25 contracted list, Although it's just as likely he'd drop back to U/20s. Magpies players will still have as much chance of making First Grade as they did this year and last year. The Magpies haven't had access to Wests Tigers contracted players for two seasons now and yet De Gois, Lawrence, Ryan and Gallant have all made their debuts in that time, and Flanagan should be added to that list as he debuted before playing a competition game for Balmain and was only there because the Magpies allowed him to play for BRET at Sheens' request (he was still contracted to us in 2006). If anything Magpies players could have a better shot at going up to First Grade if the Canberra players strengthen our side and we get away from the cellar (which is the ONLY reason Wests are doing it). Pretty hard to shine in a side getting flogged week in week out. Any Magpie who does get the call up will come back to the Magpies if they are later dropped. That would only change the following season if they get signed to a top 25 contract. As for the rest of Stalin's delusions...

There are a few players who will be exempt from dropping back to BRET from now on and will drop back to the Magpies. As far as i know, they are Shannon Gallant, Chris Lawrence and cant be 100% sure was either Dean Rysko or Beau Ryan depending if they are contracted to WT.

And as far as U20s NYC competition goes, am pretty sure the current PremierLeague competition will be the 1st game of the day played in a NEWLY named competition. THEN the new U20s NYC will be the 2nd game played on match day THEN followed by 1st Grade.

Don't know why this is, but i am guessing the U20s sorta replaces Flegg and gets pushed up as the 2nd match of the day to promote crowds to arrive earlier perhaps.

This is what i was specifically told by the assistant coach of BRET PremierLeague, but i guess we shall see how it pans out.

Wests owe Balmain big time.
Balmain were passed over in 2002 when Fitzhenry came to the Wests Tigers via Wests Magpies.

I know who owes who. The bums that Balmain keep producing for the Wests Tigers such as Nick Bradley-Qualilawa, Mark O`Halloran to the modern day favourites such as Mark (the mudcrab) O`Neill and the biggest current waste of space in the NRL Salary Cap, the man who can`t sing and can`t play !!!

Shannon hasn't been offered a WT's contract. We have offered him a contract for 08 so obviously he'll still be with us should he sign. Lawrence's situation is interesting. He wasn't on a top 25 contract this season, which is why he started the season with us. I was assuming he had been upgraded to top 25. If he hasn't then he is still a chance of returning to the Magpies, but the idea that he isn't in the top 25 contracts strikes me as more than passing strange. If he's put on a NYC contract then yes he could come back to the Magpies.

Rysko is looking like being placed on a 'fringe' contract (ie over 20yrs, but not in the top 25), these players are not specifically covered by the board decision on allocation of players to BRET. Still a good chance he'll be a Magpie again in 08, but not guaranteed. Ryan is likely to be on a similar contract and may again be with the Maggies if that's the case. However there is also a chance Sheens will add him to the top 25 (still a few spots vacant). If that happens he'll be with BRET when not in the top grade.

There will be no exceptions to the top 25 to BRET rule. At least not unless the Wests Tigers board passes a resolution to change it.

As for game days, the Magpies will indeed be the first game on at NRL games at Campbelltown. Those will be the only NSWRL Cup home games Wests will share with the Wests Tigers. Only 2 games are permitted at Telstra. Generally our home games will be 3pm Saturday. The only other time we'll play before the Wests Tigers (apart from away games maybe) is the Round One game at the SCG against the Drags. It looks like we might have a trial game against the Jets that day. The other SCG game will be April 20. For those who don't know their history this is the 100th anniversary of the first competition game which just happened to be Wests v Balmain at Birchgrove Oval. Balmain will again play Wests at Birchgrove that morning to commemorate before the WTs v Bunnies game at the SCG later in the afternoon. The return game between Wests and Balmain will be stand alone at Pratten Park Jun 8.
