We've talked about it. Now it has to happen by the look of things. Who will be FB?

Assuming Ike is not an option then I would go for Williams or mills. Williams would be the safe choice with his experience. Mills was a fullback in junior days and could benefit from a bit of extra room. He would need to be fully fit to show the urgency required to cover fullback.

Definite no to carney at fullback. Our attack would be non existent with robson and wade in the halves. Let carney get on with building his confidence and earning an origin spot. Carney at full confidence will take the team to another level.

Our attack is ordinary but will improve. Carney needs to get ball in hand as much as possible. I reckon he is more effective from five eighth where he can create.

I predict a fractured fibula for Gards.

Either that or a subluxed tibio-fibula joint. The fibula head moves back and out a bit.

I know an osteo who will fix it in one session. Be right for Sunday.

She fixes mine when it pops out every 6 months or so. Hurts like hell when I do it, then bliss after one session.

Could be a good call. His fibula head is exactly where he was holding his leg actually. Herald is reporting ACL but the mech of inj didn't look violent enough. Unless of course he has really tight ACLs

He was crying into the physio's shoulder as he was carried off. So he was in a fair bit of physical/emotional distress.

Def didn't look like an ACL. Side to side makes me think of the fib head.

He is a pretty emotional young bloke when he gets hurt, ao might not be too bad.

The papers always call ACL. No idea that lot.

Insert usual Gardner rant here. He's just not good. Fullstop. As unfortunate as his injury is let's get it out of the "tragic" category. Tragic is when someone dies not when a footy player gets hurt. FFS.

It's interesting actually. On replay when you watch it is almost innocuous. There is no direct force on his knee. There is no major twisting force, no hyper extension, no lateral or medial force.

There is an almost imperceptible little wobble of his knee as it takes the force of the step he is on at the time.

Be a really interesting MRI

Also frenz, no lachman test. Noakesy looked he was more concerned re:fracture.

Actually that's another good point. I don't remember seeing any ligament integrity tests being done on ground.

They were certainly sure not to let him weight bear which point to #.

My medical assessment of Gards at the time was that he had done a leg in and he got carried off.

(Whats the post count?)

Back to fullback

Carney at fullback can work but only if Robson retains the 7 and Graham is the 6.

Interesting Todd Carney 2010 facts

Only actually played 9 games as 5/8 during the season proper. 8 as fullback. 6 as half.

He won the Dally M with 27 points. He had received 14 points by the end of Round 16 when voting went secret. He had played only one game as a 5/8 up until then

Just sayin'.

No doubt carney is the best option but we need him at 5/8. Gotta be someone that can step up. I'm calling for callum. If not him then pickerd. Both fullbacks by trade.

It mostly depends on Gards injury and how long he'll be out for.

Don't even know yet if the side is looking for a short term option or a long term option.

Do you go with a WIP or do you go with a quick short term fix?

Do you go with a genuine FB or do you manufacture one? This probably depends on both the above.

Do you blood a rookie or try and do a Jack Gibson and just get the best 17 out there. Probably depends on the 3 things above.

etc etc etc

Who'd be a coach?

I don't know if I am in favour of putting a rookie in for this game. Parra at Parra with Hayne & Sandow dropping bombs on a fullback from 200 meters up. It's a big ask. They are 2 of the best bombers in the game
