My Windows Live One Care runs out in 8 days, and I will download Norton Anti-Virus. Mum has it, so I will just chuck in the disk and get it on there, and be right. ;)

Horses for courses but I found AVG to be very good.

My experience with Norton wasn't a good one. I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

Same here. It's a complete system hog and very rarely actually detects a virus. I once had these weird pc problems and AVG detected the virii that Nortons does not. Norton's has been rubbish in my own personal experience.

I use a combination of AVG Free, Windows Defender, and SuperAntiSpyware for virus and (most importantly) spyware.

All are free and all do a great job.

AVG's dropped the ball with version 8 - it has become bloated and its detection rate is not all that flash.

If you're paying, Nod32 and Kasperksy usually rate highly in the tests and are not too bloated.

Avast for mine. I used to use AVG but ditched it after version 8 became a resource hog and replaced it with Avast. It's free, doesn't seem too intrusive and touch wood I've had no virus issues since the switch. Whats not to like?

AVG is totally free ... i get by quite well with the free version at http://free.grisoft.com

Btw for those who are having problems with AVG8 slowing down their system, there is an option in the install program to install a firefox addon called AVG Safe Search. Do not install this addon, it slows down firefox like a bitch. If you do install it, and want to get rid of it, simply go to tools/options/addons in firefox and disable it, and relaunch your browser.

Without this addon, AVG8 runs as fast as the old versions.

AVG for mine, and I've found it doesn't slow down my pc.

mind you, as suggested earlier, if you don't go to porn sites and the like, you'll find that you don't need a real flash anti-virus program.

I use Kaspersky Antivirus, good stuff. Gets a bit intrusive when you use a new program first time but after that it's all sweet.
