Was this the tour it kicked off with fearnley ? Accused him and Pearce of picking the team and leaving out Queenslanders

I doubt it. Firstly there is no date given as to when the photo was taken. However, it has Gene Miles in the photo (on the right) and he was not part of the 1985 side that went on that mid-season tour of NZ.

The incident with Terry Fearnley happened after the during a mid-season tour in 1985 of NZ. The tour took place between Games 2 and 3 of that year's Origin series. For the third test, Fearnley dropped 4 players from the 2nd test team, all from Qld - Chris Close, Mark Murray, Greg Dowling and Greg Conescu, with Dowling and Conescu relegated to the bench).

Dropping the Qld players, and then Australia losing the third test to NZ 18-0, Senator Ron McAuliffe and the QRL went public excoriating Fearnley. Which carried over when Game 3 of that year's Origin series was played. Fearnley stood won as Australian and NSW coach after Origin 3, and Don Furner became the new Australian coach for 1986. Also the ARL made it a rule that no current Origin Coach can be the Coach of the Australian team.

Was Wayne Pearce vice captain

there’s a bit in the kings book he walked in on Pearce and fearnley going through the team sheets without discussing it with Lewis

was it downing who ran to the sideline and screamed at fearnley to look at the scoreboard
