The Hunter Mariners are the biggest waste of sporting time i've ever heard off. What ice were they on if they thought they could establish their own club in Newcastle and get Knights fans to defect. Just insane
True but they needed last minute numbers for Ribot League so they threw them together. Actually had a pretty decent roster.
They were desperate for the Knights to join super league. Paul Harragon drove the team down to Sydney on a mini bus and they all joined the ARL. Super League were really upset about it and put their own team in Newcastle as revenge with intent to drive the Knights out of business. We know how the story ends.
Unca Wayne delayed Sewer Leagues signing of the Broncos by a day or so which delayed News Ltd signing the Knights. That would have been game over for the ARL and there would probably be only 4 teams in Sydney now.
