Fox Sports replaying NRL Finals matches using their own commentary?

They've been doing this since 2008, but I don't understand why they use their commentary team for a replayed game. It reminds me of that try-hard school kid that didn't win first prize in an event, and then goes to try and show-off to their friends to convince them that they are/were really the best.

Well, Warren Smith commentates tennis during the Australian Open, Andy Raymond calls boxing, and Mark Braybrook does some work for Fox Sports News over the summer.

Dunno about the other lot though

Pretty sure the NRL don't control who News Ltd, 2GB or Channel Nine hire.

Because every 15 seconds on Nine's league coverage one of their commentators gives a plug for some crap TV show currently airing on Nine, like The Voice, Big Bang Theory, The Mentalist, etc. Drives me up the wall, and I don't blame Fox for wanting none of it.

It can be done tastefully and it can be done badly.

2010 GF for instance was incredibly bad, to the point where a few of us felt like complaining along the lines of "yes, you bet on the Roosters and you don't like Saints - we established that"

The commentary from the fox blokes during the 2010 GF is unbelievably biased, even accusing Weyman of milking after copping a fist to the dome and not returning to the field.

Where did you buy them from ? I've heard ones from the past 5 years & they've had Ch9 commentators on them.

I didn't know that Fox Sports' commentary also appears on the GF DVDs. I don't remember, but did Fox Sports also provide their own commentary for the State of Origin and Test replays？

It'd be funny to see Fox Sports commentate replays of all GFs (e.g. 1997), and then re-release the DVD including the commentary. Imagine Greg Alexander commentating in the 1991 GF. "Oh, that Brandy Alexander kicked a brilliant field goal under pressure":lol:

Well, if that is the case, why don't they also call the State of Origin matches, tests and Ch9's Friday night and Sunday games during the regular season?

Bottom line is that they are showing the finals matches on at least 2-4hr delay, well after the game has finished. It just comes off as very tryhardish like, as I said, the kid that doesn't win 1st place in a tournament yet still believes he won the comp and tries to prance around and convince others that he's the champion

In terms of commentators - warren is a full time employee of fox there gets slotted in to other sports

Whilst the rest are on 9 month contracts and get paid eff all over Xmas
