The board room stuff is not helping and it would be great to one day see a weststigers board room and not two factions running the joint, but the real reason we are in such a mess is due to one Tim Sheens, his recruitment and retrenchment policy was diabolical and that is the main reason we are in a massive hole now and probably will take anything up to five years to recover.

Winning the South West of Sydney with a very poor team will be near impossible, you need a very very good side to attract a fan base in a fragile market place

Ideally the Wests Tigers should seek some kind of underwriting deal from the NRL guaranteeing income from games in the South West to allow us to move 6 games a season there to start and better engage with the community.

Other clubs would protest long and hard if the NRL were to step in and underwrite games at Campbelltown. It would be a great outcome for WT and the people of south-west sydney but in a competitive market it would be decried as favourable treatment.

All the western teams should merge to become the greater western sydney tigers

Good idea, than we can play two games at Penrith,2 games at Parra,2games at Leichhardt,2games at Cambo, 2 games at the SFS, 1 game at the SCG and maybe play the odd game at Blue tongue. We than could re brand ourselfs as the Traveling Wilburys.

Look the NRL has propped up many teams over the years and if you add the work of News Ltd doing the same while they were part owners it is not uncommon.

Structure it similar to how ANZ or Allianz do with the NRL taking all food and beverage income. CSS has a relatively small break even and if allowed time to grow it would be of financial benefit to the NRL long term

Wests should demand a full time move out to the west with marquee games or Balmain rivarly games at the SFS/Leichardt

Until the board sorts them out, onfield will struggle

At present the games at the SFS and Leichhardt are completely carrying the can for the tigers in terms of crowd numbers, with all games at campbelltown this year being abysmal showings.

Moving the majority of their games to campbelltown would be a backwards step in that regard.

They should at least look to move their operations out West to better engage with what will be, by far, their largest fanbase in the future. Then gradually shift more games to Campbelltown (or Liverpool if the new stadium is built there) until theres an 8-4 split.

Moving HQ out west would make sense. moving their training out west might not though as most of the tigers boys live in and around the inner west don't they? Would be a pain for them all to have to suddenly start driving out Campbelltown way to train.

the majority of their fan base coming from the west is probably true, although for some reason it doesn't translate into crowd figures. Looking at penrith's crowds as well it appears that most western sydney league fans tend to prefer watching their team on TV instead of turning up in person (panthers and tigers games rate well, which is why they get FTA all the time regardless of form).

An 8-4 game split out west would require some very good marketing to ensure their game day revenue and attendance averages don't take a big hit in the process

... which is why the boardroom split and lack of club planning is so problematic from an NRL point of view. Its like seeing one of your children make a mess of their marriage at the expense of the kids; you want to step in and sort the issue out but you're not sure what the boundaries are or whether it will be well received.

Came here to basically say this.

Coach is fine. We have no forwards or a half.
Its been this way for a long while but we still insist on shuffling our players into postions not suited.
We recruit poorly, worst in the comp and coming last proves it.

You have the former, only need some churn for the latter.

In saying that, Potter has been handed a steaming turd and asked to polish it as fast as he can...

On the plus side, with all the injuries, it has allowed him to see how the youngsters who have come into the team can perform. Only problem is that they have exhausted their 2nd tier cap already, which is one of the area's that is a serious blight on the game currently.

When a young 20 year old commits suicide after training one day, the effect this has on everyone at the club would be intense.

It has to be the major reason, potter confidence would have been shot after that.

I have read that he blames himself for non consoling the young man more

Your probably right, but good teams fight their way through the hard times, they just dont roll over. The writing was on the wall in capital letters at the back end of 2012 that the present squad had run out of petrol and bugger all was done about it

Potter had his work cut out for him, he inherited a squad full of Sheens' dunces who can play 4 positions at a fringe first grade level. Combine that with a crippling injury toll and it was always going to be tough for him. I'll wait until the end of next year before I judge him.

They were shot before that.
