Apart from English, yobbo, and jibberish, what legitimate languages can you converse in??

I know enough Japanese to have a conversation with a tourist thanks to my high school edumacation, and am currently learning Italian.

I can speak Afrikaans pretty well. It's the language my family uses when they're fighting :lol: .

I know a few phrases in Tibetan, Nepali and Hindi, but nowhere near enough to actually use it in a conversation. In most cases, you've just got to hope the person takes pity on the silly 'american' and start speaking perfect english...

Edit-I can also translate Latin into English :lol: .

after a total of 9 years spent learning Italian I can

* ask and answer the questions 'how are you' and 'whats your name'

* Say good morning, afternoon and good night

* count to 100

* know selected colours (umm two types of blue, yellow, white and thats probably it

and say the words 'house' and 'cow'

Thats it - Languages just are not my thing!

I find the best way to learn a new language is watch a DVD and change the subtitles to your language of choice. Thanks to waynes world i can now tell a chick she makes me feel kinda funny like when we climbed the rope in gym class...in spanish!

other than that i know a few swedish phrases that would get you slapped if you said them in english, also some very basic japanese, and chinese.

I had a habit when I was younger, apart from the obvious one, of learning how to swear in different languages.

I can say something nasty in about 10 languages.

Except French. You can't be nasty in French. You can say "I want to take a crap in your purse" in French and it won't sound nasty.
