I had similar views, although I quite enjoyed the film as I really had heard it was terrible but it ended up being pretty 'meh' (no other way to describe it).

The terrible jokes and gangster transformers did annoy me endlessly. But what I thought was poorly done was Devestator... I mean for him to be destroyed so easily it was pretty pathetic.

Definately concur on Optimus Prime. This time he was as per the original cartoons he was powerful and not pissweak.

The thing I did like was the use of the Matrix of Leadership... I thought the main plot line - although simple - was pretty effective and set a good direction for the film.

One of my biggest hates was the idea of Megatron being 'an apprentice'. That is absolute crap that doesn't sit well with the first movie or cartoon.

Not a great movie, but not crap either.

I enjoyed it for what it is, Car / boats / bulldozer / plains etc turning into big Robots fighting each other with alot of explosions and gun battles.

I watched Transformers 2 last night and was disappointed, the action was great but as a fan of the cartoon series it's sad to see what they have done with it. Why did the Fallen look like the guy from Alien vs Predator? They should be incorporating aspects of the original series, instead they've turned it into a typical american teen flick with big robots fighting, not happy...

The Fallen was a terrible bad guy, and that made Megatron look even worse for being an apprentice to that clown.

Devastator sucked too, mainly the way he was taken out. Talk about chucking in a random element to explain something. I understand the script was written amongst the writer's strike but damn that was some lazy sh*t.

Yeah I agree, and I still can't get over how they butchered Megatron, instead of transforming into the gun and being a robot with the canon on his shoulder he looks completely different, why are Starscreams colours not red, white and blue?

sh*thouse effort really, the original movie is much better :)

Bruno was hilarious in parts, but probably just decent overall.

IMO, I think its fair to say that the last two movies have shown that the Borat and Bruno characters were much better doing 5 minute sketches on Da Ali G show, Bruno in particular.

Ali G anything > The movies.

Tbh I thought Bruno was well done. It's great for a movie solely based around gay jokes.

Bruno.

Nothing on the sketches on the Ali G show, nothing on Borat. Should have waited for the DVD.

Some of it was hilarious. The TV Show was golden.

Saw Transformers 2 today. Had very low expectations going in and it was pretty bad. First one was a lot better.

NEGATIVES

Characters were pretty much introduced for the sole reason of selling toys which really added to the clusterf**k atmosphere of the movie. The decepticons were basically cannon fodder throughout the whole movie with most of them not even getting introduced before being killed off. Megatron looked weak as piss, and the Fallen has to one of the worst bad guys ever.

The jokes were terrible, beyond terrible, and who were they even aimed at? They were too childish for adults to laugh at, but most of them were of a sexual nature which surely isn't aimed at children.

It was a movie they tried to make accessible to everyone and it came across as very awkward because of it. Plot - simple, dialogue - cringeworthy, character - non-existent, but all of those things were expected. It was the extra attempts at comedy (terribly done) where they really destroyed what could've been a very good switch off the brain action blockbuster.

Gansta Transformers. f**k me that was terrible, especially seeing as it came at the expense of Ironhide and Ratchet who were more like background characters. Sideswipe (I think that's who it was) was the other one who got introduced early and then was non-existent after that.

Biggest negative - Michael Bay. Although in fairness, the script was terrible and gave him little to work with.

POSITIVES

Can't argue with the effects/action, after all, this is what the movie is all about.

Optimus Prime kicks arse. Was made to look a bit weak in the first, but not this time.

Megan Fox. Once again have to question who exactly the movie was aimed at with some of the positions she was in, but seeing as I'm an adult male who doesn't have to give a sh*t about that, she looked f**king awesome. Who cares if you can act with a body like that.

Overall - Pretty poor imo. There really wasn't anything too memorable about it. It was almost as if they tried to cram too much into the movie instead of keeping it relatively simple like they did in the first. It's my biggest gripe with Bay. Bigger doesn't always equal better. All you have to do is look at Bad Boys 2 compared to Bad Boys to see how Bay can butcher a sequel when trying to make it bigger and better.
I'd agree with most of that, except the bit at the end about Bad Boys 2 which I thought was fantastic.

For those saying why would you expect plot and storyline in a movie about giant robots, the same could be said about a man who dresses up in a bat costume. Without a good storyline, the movies would still make plenty of money. With a good storyline, well...the result is Dark Knight. Obviously Transformers would never have been able to get that in depth, but it's certainly not strange that people would hope that it would be better than it ended up being.

I saw Ice Age 3 on the weekend. Wasn't great, but was certainly better than most of the internet reviews were saying. Most have trashed it pretty bad, but I'd give it a 3 (perhaps bordering on 3.5) out of 5.

The Hangover is probably the best movie I've see at the cinema's since Dark Knight last year. Went in thinking that the ads for it looked good, but it would be the usual case of those ads showing the only good parts in the movie. But it ended up being the best comedy in quite some time.

Seriously, how fkn stupid was Transformers 2

First one was 10 times better. Theres a finite amount of times you can get entertained by blowing things up. Michael Bay over did it again.

A very stupid plot, it didnt flow at all.

The action scenes are hard to follow, apart from Optimus and BumbleBee, its really hard to tell who's who.

What made the first one better was the plot ran ALOT smoother, and the action/fight scenes worked well with the plot.

A simple formula they shouldve stuck with. In this one, they have actions scences just for the sake of it, they over do it throughout the movie, and when it comes to the end there isnt that WOW factor when it comes to the action.

I hope they get rid of Michael Bay for the third movie
