What should the Dragons do between now and the first round of 2014? I’d like to see the Dragons do the folloing:
Recruitment
It would be good if we could sign the following players for 2014 and beyond;
Dugan
Cummins
Hastings
Seru
A big tough hard-nosed prop
Coaching Staff
I think everyone knows my view on Price so there is no point in going through the ‘Dice Price’ thing in this thread. Let’s take the view that the Board has decided to sign a top grade Coach for 2015 and keep Price in the position for 2014. How do we make the best of this poor decision?
I think that with the right assistants, things may improve from a coaching point of view. So I think it would be a great idea to recruit a few helpers to work with some of the players and with the team as a whole from this week, through the off season and if necessary during season 2014. Steve Folkes is gone for 2014 and so I believe that it would be a great idea to hire the following people to assist Price in bringing the team back up to its full potential. These assistants would help players work on their strengths and weaknesses and develop combinations in attack and defence:
a. Laurie Daley and Ben Hornby: Provide one to one coaching for the halves and fullbacks in the Club.
b. Mark Coyne and Matt Cooper: Provide one to one coaching for the outside backs in the Club.
c. Warren Ryan and Dean Young: Provide one to one coach for the forwards in the Club.
Administration and Football Management
Doust should be relieved of football management responsibilities and a Football Manager’s position be created. This position is to report to the Board and be given a budget / salary cap to work within. The Football Manager would recruit the Coaching Staff, Recruitment Officer and other management positions. By doing this I believe the Club would benefit by Doust’s dedication to the Club’s financial management and the Football Manager’s dedication to all matters relating to football.
What are your thoughts on this?
