How many clean outs do we need?? Fitzy's board was cleaned out after it was found to be corupt and stale for all those years and now a FEW people want another clean out. The board should stay IMO they are not the ones that take the hit ups or catch the ball on the field.

The current board have really done a lot of good things for the fans. The leagues club looks amazing. All we need is a few wins and the Fitzy's ex employees who constantly cry on here will hopefully go away. Then we can talk about the footy.

Agree that the Leagues Club Board have the runs on the board, however the football club do not.

It's time for the licensed club to surrender control of the NRL team (as promised pre-election) and allow the FC to make some hard decisions with full ownership of the franchise. Those directors on the LC board need to also need to resign. Then the cleanout can really begin.

who's left to clean Pou?

- new board
- new CEO
- new coach
- new recruitment
- new assistants

What's left? I can only think of one name who is still prominant in all that is going on, but I struggle to believe that one man is the cause of all our woes

maybe its us fans - we've been there all along - clearly we all need to piss off

Also Piss off Hayne, Mannah, Moi Moi, MK, Burt, Smith and Hiney, then basically the whole playing roster has been cleansed out, we will be unbeatable :sarcasm:

The Leagues club will not give over control FC when the NRL are on the brink of a massive TV rights deal. Think about it.... Mo $$$$

Look for example at Jonathon Thurston - North Queensland suits him to a tee - the culture, lifestyle, the fans, the whole package has allowed him to flourish... how well did he perform under Folkes at Canterbury? Did anyone see his potential greatness??

Let's be fair, Thurston won a premiership at the Bulldogs.
He debuted there at the age of 19, won a premiership at 21, they only lost him because they were cheating the salary cap and therefore couldn't afford to retain all the players they had cheated to accumulate.

Payed Origin the year after his premiership win [they sacked Scott Prince, their man of the series in 2004 to bring him in] - so it's not like nobody saw anything in him from 2002-2004....

I'm not writing Sandow off just yet. He's had all of 6 games here - let's give him at least another 6 before we declare he's definitely not going to work out for us.

I know a coach de void of ideas when I see their team play. All the talk is about getting back to playing negative football. The Storm look to attack far more than we do.

Even if Kearney doesn't work out we have only wasted 3 years. Then we can get a new coach and rebuild. Things will work out for us.

We may have wasted less than 2 years this time, if the Board shows some gumption and acts at/by Round 13....

I think it's just a few emotionally scarred players left that are able to be cleaned out, and hopefully they'll be gone next year and the healing can begin. And yes it's possible that even Jarryd Hayne is one of them.

At the least, a player earning that much needs to carry the team every week to earn his pay. This year will be a better gauge of his ability now that he has some halves to work with.

We also definitely have a toxic fanbase that makes it hard for anyone running the club to achieve anything, but unfortunately the club is the fans - and they're stuck with us.

Yep, that fanbase (who watch an 80min game each week) can really impact on a full-time professional squads' 70-odd hours a week of work at training, culminating in that weekly 80 minute game....

But like it or not, without this fanbase there'd be no point in the club even existing PP, rather than the other way around.

It doesn't surprise me that once again you've failed to understand the point, instead fixating on some imagined argument you believe you can 'win'.

Don't go changing, bart.

The fanbase don't affect the team on a week-to-week basis, and I never said they did. I said they make it hard for the people running the club (i.e. the board and CEO) to get anything done - to make any kind of positive change.

The reason for this is we're so quick to demand immediate change that long-term plans get thrown out the window in order to stop the fans from slitting their wrists.

This is similar to the political crises facing Western democracies in the information age.

But like it or not, without this fanbase there'd be no point in the club even existing PP, rather than the other way around.

Agreed. That's why I said they're stuck with us.

the thing is who would we replace him with. Once again the eels have missed the boat with regards making an offer to one of the best coaches going around. 1st bennett and now hasler.

not that we ever had a chance of getting them

You gotta be in it to win it.

I don't buy this shit, that we can't attract a top quality coach. Money talks and bullshit walks. Throw 1.5 mil at Bellamy, and let me see him knock that back.

Those two and Sheens are the only ones currently coaching to have won a premiership.

The last time a new coach won a premiership was Hasler in '08. Before that, there were first time coaching premiers in '04 (Folkes), '03 (Lang), '02 (Stuart) and '01 (Hagan).

Prior to that it was Reilly in '97, Anderson in '95, Bennett in '92, Sheens in '89, Gould in '88 and Fulton in '87.

Pretty crazy that in the 25 years since we last won the title, only 11 coaches have won premierships. Four of those first (and only) timers were between 2001 and 2004. Since then the only new one has been Hasler.

Does anyone know if any coach has ever left the Eels and gone on to win a premiership elsewhere? If it did it had to have happened prior to the 80s.

Not that many have left us to get another job in that time let alone won a premiership.

Gee fitzy was a genius

No wonder Gronk bartman And Maroubra want him back so much

No wonder it's all kearney's fault

Just sick of know-nothings looking for a scapegoat.

Kearney might well be a shit coach but you merkins wouldn't know. You're just clutching at straws because you don't want to admit that maybe it's our club culture that's shit.

We needed a full cleanout, not a partial one. The job is still only partly done.

You f**king wouldn't know anything either. And with your stupid coach killer theory it's hard to figure out if you know anything at all.

I don't know about you but from 1998-2009 I was pretty happy with our results. 2 minor premierships and 2 Grand finals and made the finals 9/12 times. We were one of the most successful clubs in that time. Not to mention anything could have happened if we weren't kicked out of the finals by cheats 3 times.

If anything it's the club culture after this crappy cleanout or rebuild shit has started that's pissed me off.
