Guys,If you want some good, wholesome  metal then you can't go past Slipknot.I am also a bit partial to Slayer,Pantera & I virtually grew up on Metallica, but Slipknot take it to a new edge  .

Back to the original post: I like a few different kinds of Rock -

Jangly guitar rock like Even, Ice Cream Hands, Machine Translations - what used to be called Pop in the good old days...

New Nu Wave Rock like The Strokes & Interpol - beyond Cool...

Cigarette & Bourbon fuelled Rock like the one & only You Am I - Best live act I've ever seen, all 50 times!!

I also don't mind a bit of harder stuff like System Of A Down every now then but draw the line at your Norweigan Death Metal stuff...

Cheers,
Ben S.

70's British.

Queen, Status Quo, Slade, T-Rex etc.

Damn Growler, I just put "The Prophet's Song" on a list of favourites.

The first song I ever listened to with headphones on at full blast.

My cd collection has a bit of everything really

From 50's rock n roll, bluesy style stuff, 'classic rock', 80's hair bands and more modern alternative stuff along with some industrial and metal

none of the numetal crap or 90's fake punk though....I may have pretty wide taste but I still got standards

Now where talkin Green Eye!!! GO the Big Hair Glam rock seen of the 70's80's!!! I love that music.

Alice In Chains were an awsome band, until the singer killed himself. Man in the Box, man those vocals would take some vocal chords to do that a few nights in a row!!!

I lump it all in with 'alternative' - too many subgroups to list otherwise :)

Soundgarden were the pick of the bunch although imo stone temple pilots coulda done so much if scott had ever actually got himself clean

I listened to Superunknown the other day, forgot how good it was. Then went back & listened to all the back-catalogue. What a unique voice Cornell had/has...

Hey Brook, im not sure if you know but Scott is just out of rehab and has a new band and album with Velevet Revolver and the album called contraband.

Its a good sounding album with distinctive STP parts. Also has Guns N Roses parts due to 3 old gunners in the band but still it might be of some intrest to you.

Southern Saint,

Your right about Cornell it is a very unique voice he has.

Yeah I've heard he was doing something but haven't heard the album yet

I should make an effort.

Cornells voice is just huge - I saw soundgarden at the hordan years ago and it probably should have gone on my 'best international live acts' list
