Hey Brook, im not sure if you know but Scott is just out of rehab and has a new band and album with Velevet Revolver and the album called contraband.

Its a good sounding album with distinctive STP parts. Also has Guns N Roses parts due to 3 old gunners in the band but still it might be of some intrest to you.

Southern Saint,

Your right about Cornell it is a very unique voice he has.

Yeah I've heard he was doing something but haven't heard the album yet

I should make an effort.

Cornells voice is just huge - I saw soundgarden at the hordan years ago and it probably should have gone on my 'best international live acts' list

I saw them too. It was the "old" Hordern & The Fauves & You Am I supported. I think it was one of their last gigs before they went to Hawaii & broke up.

Cornell did a solo aucoustic version of Black Hole Sun that blew everyone away.

Ahhh, memories!!

Cheers,
Ben S.

I think I was 17 & full of drink!!

I much prefer the Old Hordern - I remember seeing Blur there & dead-set it was about 40 degrees in there but the atmosphere was amazing.

Cheers,

The stage faces the other way now, there's no poles obstrcting your view, it's air-conditioned, the sound is clearer & it feels a bit bigger.

All improvements on a superficial level, but it's lost some of it's old charm & atmosphere...

Cheers,
Ben S.

somehow its only the really dodgy venues that can get the right feel

I used to love the Globe in newtown - I don't think the place had ANY ventilation and you normally felt like you would pass out from heat within the first 5 minutes but I have some great memories of the place before it closed down

Growler i think Dead Kennedy's, Minor Threat etc are alot more punk than the pistols. The Pistols were alot more their attitude wich made em punk but the pther band took punk to what its meant to be. Bad Religion, NoFX etc all great punk bands.

definetly punk rock and harcore punk rock.

bands like nofx, the deviates, the circle jerks, the descendents, strung out, no use for a name, bad religion and pennywise still kick ass. while good riddance rise against western waste, black flag, minor threat, sick of it all and agnostic front the hardcore punk scene.

cant stand any of this boy band punk shit like good charlotte and blink. there in it for the almighty dollar and the music suffers because of it.

WOW.....where do i start.

I love all rock.....but 80's arena aka hair bands are my favourite, these include Ratt, Gunners, Van Halen, Def Lep, W.A.S.P, Motely Crue,Europe, Bon Jovi, Kiss ( even though 70's aswell).

My favourite 70's rock bands include, Ronnie James Dio in all of his bands....a special mention though with him in Sabbath, Led Zepplin, Deep Purple & Kiss.

My favourite punk bands would have to be the Sex pistols & Bill Idol ( GenerationX)

Favourite 90's rock groups.....Nirvana, Sound Garden, Pearl Jam & Stone Temple Pilots....use to idolize Scott Weiland.

I have to admit though i love diversity in rock...i also love The Police, Floyd, The Eagles etc

Yeah man i listen to basically anything from grindcore to death to thrash.

Early thrash bands like S.O.D sound pretty much like hardcore bands anyway.

I've only got one S.O.D. album (speak english or die).

Although i wouldnt call myself a fan of Suicidal Tendencies i reckon they kick ass, i got their S/T which would have to be the best skatepunk album out there and got 2 others (freedumb and FYSASMM).
