What will Maguire do to the roster?

2 specialists hookers in a squad is enough IMO. We dont want to waste top 25/30 spots on hookers. If both get injured you cant expect to have a good 3rd string option waiting.

I reckon even some like Corey Thomspon could do a job at 9 in the short term should injuries arise. Season hardened, tough, professional, quick. The type who can adapt to anything, even hooker. We also have Robson in NSW cup who is good.

No, you just buy the hype that Marshall and Farah will win us games, let alone a competition. These two should have been marched out the door with Sheens at the end of 2012 in hindsight and definitely not bought back to the club in a playing capacity.

Iam not going to knock them because they were both champion players and contributed plenty to the club. With our present roster Farah still has something to offer on the paddock. As for Benji Iam not sure, okay he offers plenty of back up for backline injuries.

If it was my call I would have parted company with both players at the end of 2018 and started it fresh this year, but I am ready to be proven wrong

I think that means they aren't wasted spots. First grade players on lower contracts are gold.Let's be honest they aren't far off the players above them in Reynolds and Liddle. They both might be first picked in first grade and deserve their spots.
That's hardly a ringing endorsement for the club either as Reynolds hasn't been known for his game management and patience. So Brooks either has an end of the line Benji Marshall who showed last year that a full year of first grade is beyond him or a brittle Reynolds who would have to change the way he plays the game entirely. Thanks a bunch Ivan you merkin for your dud cap management

Reynolds was probably a dud signing but who knows. He may come good. I wish we hadn't signed him long term. Look at McQueen. It's a long term contract that we have to pay out because no one else will want them.

Robbie and Benji have come into the 30-player squad as much for their mentoring and experience as for their playingl ability.
I don't think it's any coincidence that Brooks had the best season of his life after Benji returned; especially considering the utter turd that he had as his #6 prior to Benji.
It's Madge's squad and he'll select the best man for the job on game day - it's his neck on the line afterall.

Going to be a teacher cos he got farked around by ESL clubs. Bring him to Leichhardt I say. If Musgrove gets cleared then our pack starts to look pretty good
I’m sure he will be registered by the nrl but it does depend on his court case

Hopefully buy a new hooker. Not sure if Liddle will ever make it. Gets fit and then gets broken.

Agreed Liddle has spent plenty of time on the sidelines, but so did blokes like Benji. I suppose it will all comedown to dollars, if we could buy a very good no9 for similar money that Liddle is on you might think of replacing him, but we showed a lot of faith in Brooks for a long time and I would do the same with Liddle

Yeah but Brooks wasn't broken like Liddle. Seems like the kid just cannot take a trick.

And Benji was a prodigy. Liddle has shown he can be a very good player, but Benji in his youth was a player you would hang on to in blind faith that he'd come good as he was a game changer.

Probably being harsh on Liddle but if we can get more out of another young player with the same talent for similar value I think it's worth going ahead with. We've got a year to figure it out. If Farah leaves and history repeats with Liddle next year, we are f**ked.

I think this injury should be viewed in isolation as an ankle injury isnt really about toughness or durabiliry...as much as it adds to the negative perception of him ankle injuries are just part of the game for everyone

Thankfully & touch wood Brooks did have more than his fair share of breaks while playing in the Balmain juniors.

Yeah I get that, but it's another set back. Soon as he gets fit boom something else goes.
