What will Maguire do to the roster?

Yeah I get that, but it's another set back. Soon as he gets fit boom something else goes.

For sure but he's probably not puting too much of a dent in the cap right now and it would be foolish to have an ankle injury be the straw that broke the camel's back ( sorry to have to use an injury metaphor) in regards his future at WT. Citing Benji's early days is one example. .another less remembered is Scott Prince...he came to us as about the unluckiest player in the game at the time and a lot were wondering about him ever being any good again.
Fingers crossed remains Plan A ..he CAN play...that's worth a 50 / 50 bet on his future i think..i may be very wrong but its hard to see him being cut loose ( at his age) after all the work

Just to add. ...Bennett said ( after we won 05) that letting Prince go was among the biggest mistakes of his coaching career

The problem Das is not the money. Its the spot. We get a certain number of roster spots and a spine position is key. Not many teams have spine depth and if our "future great" hooker is always on the injured list, We will never be settled.

Thats true.....at least it's all agreed he only has this year to have the questions around his future put to bed..that's assuming Farah continues to hold his end up ..i"d imagine we'll know well before then though

I could be wrong, but didn’t he do his ACL twice in 2 years before he was even 18?
I’m not sure about ACL (he may have had 1)but he did break leg & hand or arm.In contrast Moses who also played alongside Brooks in the gun Balmain sg ball sides was virtually injury free throughout.

I remember reading he had a serious leg Injury that rules him out for a year when he was 16. He then injured the other one in his first game back the next year. Can’t recall exactly that they were. So he missed the SG Ball GFs they won against the Raiders.

I know that one was definitely a broken leg so it’s likely for someone with his speed that he may have incurred a ruptured ACL.
Yep the poor bugger missed winning sg ball GF.Btw while Brooks was missing Moses was great & very influential in us winning.

He came back from 2 broken legs to deliver us a premiership. I'll always be grateful for that. I can see why Bennett said letting him go was one of the biggest mistakes of his career as well. Broncos didn't have a real halfback for years until Peter Wallace came along and when Prince went back to the Broncos while Wallace was still halfback, so who knows how much bigger Prince's career might have been if he had stayed with the Broncos for all that time.

I like how Madge has been saying he speaks to each individual to tell them what they need to do to improve.
Thompson........Be more of a linkman...when playing fullback.
Marsters Be a better defender
Brooks.....take control and talk more
Nofa learn to defend and mark your man
Matalino....get bigger and hit harder.

Seems to me he really cares about his players individually.

Madge is an exceptional coach. How serendipitous due to Penriths desperation to poach Cleary so they can retain his son !

This guy seems to know what he is doing..

He has inherited this roster from Ivan.

Early days but they appear to be fitter then what we have previously seen..

Trying to ratchet things down though considering opposition..

I was a person who wasn't overly keen on Farah. So far he has done bloody well but it's round 2. I will reserve proper judgement till round 14.

I think he's getting the best out of a lot of players individually, even those who may not be his type of player. Signs of a quality coach, would like to give him 2-3 years and see what he can really do. This season is likely going to be a swansong season for Benji & Robbie but if we can have a deep run into the finals it's a bonus.

Hes looking super fit..His arms are bigger as well.
The good thing is he plays 80mins..For a 35 year old thats pretty impressive.
BUT......Its his last year so we need to find a #1 hooker for 2020......
Forget Liddle,he breaks a leg just walking down the street.
Look now to sign an 80 min hooker.

IMO we are an Oates/Ferguson winger away from being a Top 4 side

I think we still have concerns at 9 and 6. Benji and Robbie are doing the job at the moment. Maybe Reynolds will fill the 6 role for a couple of years. Maybe Liddle will fill the 9 role.

We will also have Matulino and Packer coming off contract and players like Aloiai and Mikaele who may require upgrades.

Our squad though at the moment isn't bad. We aren't a top 4 team but with our middle forwards rolling forward and our current spine working pretty well we don't look weak. Our edge backrowers are fine. We probably need some pace out wide and a high quality winger would make a difference.
