Ok, I'll try and make this a constructive thread without any pointless accusations or flaming.

Current issue:

Too many Toyota cup players in the team being given the opportunity all at once... a lot of basic stuff they're doing wrong through lack of experience. Look at the team - Fish, Johnson, Henry, Hurrel, Taylor, Lousi - thats almost 1/2 the team with little or no NRL first grade experience. They need more time in the reserve grade - blood them in throughout the season, not all at the start!!

Selection choice (assuming a full strength squad):

Backs:
Fullback - Locke (Fish goes back to the Vulcans and learns the trade).
Wingers - Big Manu & Taupo (tell Manu NOT to rush up the line)
Centers - Ropati (tell him to keep his line and NOT to rush up in defense)
- Inu
Stand off - Maloney - during practise - get him to play second fiddle to Johnson
Half Back - Johnson - during practise - work on his leadership in directing the team

Forwards: Props - Lilyman and Rapira
Hooker - Friend
Second Row - Mannering, Luck & Taylor.

Reserves - Mataulino, Packer, Lewis Brown & Mateo.

Lousi and Tai, Fish, Henry, Hurrel all to reserve grade to get some experience and learn the trade.

Preach:

1. Sliding defense. any clowns (Ropati & Vatuvei) rushing up and breaking the line will be punished.

2. Never underestimate the enermy - no trying miracle passing in our half or stupid blind side runs on the first play or chip kicks in our 22. Thats just plain disrespectful to the opposition's defense and makes us look foolish when it doesnt work. Play solid conservative football to start - thats why Mateo is on the bench.

3. Force the opposition into errors by offensive defense - suffocate the opposition when they have the ball - watch the game against the storm in the semi's - it was all about defense.

Thats a good start dont you think?

Not entirely Bluey's fault, nor does he really have a lot of choice- injuries to Rapira, Luck and Lillyman automatically take a way a lot of experience. Not to mention losing Berrigan, Seymour, Hohaia etc

What would you do if you were Bluey?

Talk to all the players (at least one first grade regular still not getting talked to)
Have the players train in the positions they will be playing in
Don't play favourites

Get Michael Luck and Kevin Locke to give training workshops on what defensive commitment is all about.

Contrary to OP's opinion, I'd actually debut someone new. On the wing for Manu. And chuck him on the bench as an impact brute.

I'd also move Mannering to lock.

Comments like these aren't surprising, a lot of people let their emotions control them, rather than common sense.

Aren't you the dude who is trying to convince everyone that they guy who should be dropped from the backline is Vatuvei? Nice.

If any winger made the amount of handling errors he does, lacks the speed and agility he does, has been as horrible
defensively his whole career, and getting worse as he is, and puts his team under the amount of unnecessary pressure he does,
should have been dropped long ago, no matter what his name is, if that isn't just common sense...what is?

Say "No" to Jerome and Ben's advances...

Say "Yes" to the Smiliing assassin as he may reward you with a "W"

Now keep repeating it back to yourself until game day

Beause there are two guys at centre who are much more deserving of the axe first before contemplating getting rid of Vativei.

Ropati- 6 errors. 16 missed tackles, 69 tackles made....not great.

Henry- 3 errors. 11 missed tackles. 114 tackles made....easily the best back line numbers.

Vatuvei- 16 errors, 20 missed tackles, with 42 made....pathetic for any player in any position, but for a winger...
it's a joke.

How on earth did big Manu make 16 errors???

If that is correct, he has to be dropped for a game or 2. That's bush league!
