What's good on Netflix?

With Covid messing up new seasons of Ozark and Animal Kingdom, Netflix has been over loaded with doco’s. Most I get bored with, however a good one recently is Murder Among Mormons. Had no knowledge of the Church of Latter Day Saints, but this is a very good show. Whether you are religious or not it should not matter. Well worth checking out.

I love doco's so I'll put that on my list, cheers.

A doco I watched the other night was "Sherpa" - relating to Mt Everest and the tourism explosion in climbing expeditions. It's the first real doco I've seen that explores it from a Nepalese angle and the people (Sherpas) who support the industry. And it's set in 2014, that some people might remember was when the avalanche disaster took many lives. That's not essentially a spoiler - it's promoted from the outset.

Highly recommend it.

BTW - a Sherpa is himalayan ethnicity, not a Nepalese "porter" that supports climbing expeditions of Everest and the surrounds (which is popular opinion). They are primarily from Nepal but also some in Tibet, China and other countries across the himalayas.

Need some advice. Started Ozark a couple of years ago and got through a few episodes and then lost interest.

Is it worth revisiting and persevering?

Been watching Dirty Money, it's a series of hour long documentaries based around people who committed fraud and such, quite good

Definitely worth it, one of the best shows running at the moment in my opinion on probably one of my favourites that I’ve seen. Really looking forward to the next season!

Think I’m going to watch French show ‘Black Spot’ next. Anyone else seen it?

FYI I’m halfway through season 1 and this is excellent. Set in a rural French town a District Attorney is sent to investigate why it has 6 times the average homicide rate.

Very eerie, there are hints of supernatural forces at play but hasn’t revealed if there are or not.

Enjoying it a lot so far

Just finished Flint Town. What a mess America is in. These smaller cities with no money, corrupt politicians, mainly unemployed residents and soaring crime rates are an eye opener. They actually had cops door knocking to get the people to support an increase in a special tax to keep the cops and fire fighters employed. The people vote yes and the local politicians then turn around and spend it on other things. Town has just over 100,000 population and around 100 full time police in total. Once upon a time it had 300 cops. There is a scene where the duty Sgt is watching the 911 calls for police. 50 calls in the list waiting and four police cars in total to cover it. He just says, any kind of response to most of the calls won’t even be possible. The town consistently ranks in the top ten FBI crime areas every year.
