Hey raiders supporter here,

just wanting to know what the story was with lyon and parra? Is he still under contract and can't sign with another nrl club until 2006 or has he in fact been released yet by parra? It's just that i've heard some rumors going around that the raiders might try and tempt jamie lyon back to the nrl after the departure(s) of joel monaghan, luke davico, ruben wiki & brad drew. I've heard that if he were to come back and play that it would like most likely be with manly cause of cleal. However, i've heard that canberra could appeal to lyon as it's different to sydney (it's like a big country town) and there's also a host of former eels at the club already. This canberra times article basicially confirms that the raiders might indeed have some interest in lyon.

As you said - unless theres a middle aged gentleman with a big bushy beard and a son that looks like cousin itt, then jamie won't be considering your club

I think he used the "i miss the country" story as a bit of a way out of Parra really. I don't think it will play a major role when it comes down to the crunch of him deciding where he wants to play his football. Having said that, I'd rather he play for Canberra than Manly Brenno but I don't fancy your chances mate, sorry.

1st, He'll need to gain a full release fom Parra but at least Canberra have something to offer Parra. :D ;-)

Give us Ian back for free and pay out Lyon's contract (250K for 2005 and 2006 so 500K in total) and it could be a possible.

His manager, Alan Gainey has stated that Jamie had until the 30th June to tell Parra if he was going to play for them next year but he didn't, so he will now continue to play for Wee Waa. It has also been confirmed that if he was to come back his salary for next year would only count for $45k against the cap because that is what we have paid him for this season. So I don't think anything will change until maybe after next year.

We could let some pigs loose in Parramatta Park for him....and his training can be chasing em down

i think being in the country was a big thing for him actually, Wee Waa might be small but people from the town love the place

and who knows he might go and play for Canberra, but i doubt it

Jamie Lyon wont play for Parra again. He will sit out his contract until 2006 and most likely end up signing for Manly if Cleal is still there.

What are you talking about?

We signed the pig!

That's why Brian said it was one of the most exciting things that has happened during his tenure as coach - Riddell has nothing to do with it! The reason we're paying him so much is because he has to spend Tuesday afternoons running round Parra stadium while Jamie "hunts" him!

Lyon will be back to hunt the pig next year!

You do realise that he's under contract to us for the 2006 season??

He'd be able to sign with Manly after June 30 of that year, and not play for them until 2007

By that stage he will have been out of top grade league for 2 and a half years (pretty much 3) - I don't think he'll be playing outstanding footy for quite a while - probably not until 2008, by which stage he'll be 26 and most of his career will be over!

Of course, that's only if Cleal is even at Manly then.. and if those ridiculous rumours have any substance....

Great way to keep Piggy's weight down at least!

My only concern is what happens if Lyon catches him!

Let's look at the facts:

* Yes, there is only one Jamie and he is a supremely talented player.

* His head and heart are not in the right place.

* He won't be back at Parra. Therefore for anyone to sign him, he'll only be able to train and play in 2007.

* He doesn't care about mates and teammates.

* Doesn't care about the team.

For anyone to sign up a player who is in a fragile state of mind and who hasn't played any level of NRL footy in 2 years - you would have to be very desperate.

Sorry, I worded my post wrong. Jamie won't be going anywhere before 2006 - as in he may sign with another club mid season or whatever. And mark my words he won't be playing for any other NRL club before that, unfortunately not even Parra.

If Lyon wants to play first grade in the NRL he'll have to come back and play for Parra. Clubs simply won't take the risk on him. If a club did take a risk, it would be match payments and incentives only.

If he doesn't ever come back to the NRL, at least he retired an Eel :D

he went home to be with mates......

playing for peanuts in a Group league with your childhood mates means you know nothing about mates and teammates does it????
