What's the Earliest Game you can Remember?

The first Rugby League game I recall sitting down to watch on tv for a reasonable amount of was between South Sydney and Balmain in 1988. Souths won the game 22-13.

The enduring memory is the toughness and rivalry between two traditional clubs, and Mario Fenech's hooking battle with Benny Elias. I decided to go for Penrith in this first year of getting into league, at just 7 years of age, but Phil Blake a Rabbitoh at the time was one of my favourite players.

1990 is my first sort've vivid memory of games, one game where Peter Peters said the Broncos didn't stand a chance against Parramatta, then the Broncos wound up wiping the floor with them. quote]

Yeah I went to that game I think, if you're talking about the one played at Parra Stadium. The Eels had the game wrapped up seemingly with a 14 point lead or so with Sterlo in dynamic touch, but the never say die Broncos came back in the last 20 minutes to win by 2. My dad was a mad keen bronco fan and he took me along. The next year we started going to Panther games reguarly.

It was a shock upset. Graham Mackay was the Magpies goalkicker and his goalkicking made the difference on a cold Canberra afternoon.

On TV I would say any Canberra, Newcastle or Gold Coast game in the late 80s. My first game I attended was Parra Vs Canberra in 1990, which Parra won. Since then Ive been following the blue and gold and no-one else. :)

I have that game on tape I think, was it a Friday night game at Parra Stadium? My earliest memory of watching League was watching the 1994 Grand Final and going for Canberra because I thought their bright green jersey was cool and their logo looked like the Strongbow Cider logo

First game I remember a lot about (that I went to, obviously as a Raiders fan I remember a hell of a lot about the '89 grand final) was about a year later, our first year at Bruce. Raiders vs Sharks, Saturday arvo game. Sharks lead 10-0 at half time thanks to tries to Glen Coleman and Alan Wilson, only for Big Mal and Badge to lead the Raiders back to a cracking 24-10 victory.

Crazy, I've got that game on tape as well. Believe me, it was a good match- the lead swung back and forth all game. Pretty impressive considering Raiders won the comp and Wests came second last.

My Aunt introduced me to League by insisting that I kept her company whilst she watched State of Origin 1, 1994. The atmosphere of the game and the intensity really got me, and the dramatic and unbelievable final moments. It was almost like a movie script.

Became David Solomona's number one fan, and never understood why he kept going off the field in the GF, beause i thought he was he was there best player, was 10 at the time. I have been watching RU since i was 8-9.

Was hoping for a Parrmatta - Roosters final but it wasnt to be

Naaa that was the second game that year the 2 teams played, Sterlo was awesome that day. I was referring to the first one though.

I can remember Steve Morris scoring a long range try after a Raiders drop ball.

the 1977 grand final parra vs st george..9-9 all at fulltime.parra scored late in the game and Mick Cronin had the chance to win it after Muggleton scored in the corner.he was never going to kick tho cause his feet were all over the place as he went into kick it..for some reason i remember that ..

Muggleton was just a kid in 1977. Ed Sulkowicz scored the try for Parramatta.
