Where are the doubters now ?

Still right here to be honest. I'd have liked to have seen them put the knife to the Titans. It was ok, but not premiership material. Defensive edges were better, but it didn't seem as if they were genuinely up against much.

All you doubters should check in, like the Rebel attack on the Death Star in Star Wars.

I've tipped them to be top 4 and aren't changing my mind. But over 4 rounds they've lost to the 2 good teams in Dogs and Manly, then beat the soft ones in Eels and Titans. Need to get the ball rolling.

warriors will just make up the numbers in the eight this year.

Had the finals system we have in this year been in last, we would have been knocked out on week one with the mother of hidings...;-)

I respect the doubters opinions, I respect the ones with 'the faith.' But IMO it's way too early still to tell. Give em a few weeks. It's an old cliche but true-any team can beat another on the day in this comp, and it's all about form and momentum at the right time. And we're months off that. Keeping in the hunt while ironing out issues on the way is the way to go, with some key squad members coming back as well.

Regardless, I much prefer the style now.

You generally can't read a lot in to the early rounds for most sides, bar those teams that are clearly below the rest, but it's looking pretty good as far as I'm concerned. Our defense needs work, but I'd much rather have something that's structural being the major issue as opposed to being creatively bankrupt like some other sides going round, not least the one we just played.

McLennan has inherited a ton of talent and depth, but I think he's also inherited a bit of a double edged sword. Expectations are justifiably high, so unless we win the whole thing this season, or come very close, he'll probably continue to have a number of doubters, regardless of how the regular season goes. A bit unfair given this is his debut NRL season, but understandable given the talent pool he has to draw from.

I don't care whether we have a good win/loss record as there are a few rabble teams this year so the quality of opposition will drop significantly some weeks making it hard to judge whether a team is on form or not. A top 4 spot could very well come down to luck with injuries and should be the aim but as we saw with panthers a couple years ago regular season consistency doesn't mean you can make a mark come finals time. What I do care about is how we play against the broncos, storm, dragons & sea eagles and whether or not the warriors can win against good teams in their backyard with good crowd support. I'm hoping the warriors can show some steel in pressure situations which is what I feel goes a long way to winning premierships and the comradary that comes from overcoming the odds when your backs are against the wall is the foundation to success. I haven't quite seen that yet but am hopeful that I will sometime this year.

A win over the wooden spooners, who look worse than they did last year, isn't the time to start a 'where are the doubters' thread.

I don't think anyone was putting an obit on their season at 1-2 but they had doubts. I still do. Whether that's Bluey, Jerome (one DECENT game v a very avg centre), Ben Henry etc etc.

Couple of things:

Its only Rd4 way too early to have an opinion based on results either way, especially given the teams we've faced.

From what I've heard about Inu I understand why he's not getting picked so not an issue for me. +1 Bluey

From what I've heard he's barely spoken to one of the first grade regulars all season. -1 Bluey

Jeez A4e, you are a breath of fresh air mate. I just wish we had more level headed posters like you on here.

I said prior to the Manly game (patting myself on the back but not really enjoying being right) that I expected us to leak a lot of points through the centres. That has been the case against the quality teams. Against Manly, a simple play of having a fullback join the backline was enough for the defence (Henry) to misread the play and Matai to waltz over unopposed.

Wroppo was a lot better Saturday and not quite the turnstyle of previous weeks. Ben Henry is OK as long as the opposing backs are not quick. When they are quick, he gets very exposed with the compressed defense (and the slide needed) used by the warriors.

It is well said above that we are week 4 and have victories against the 15 and 16th ranked teams. We play the Easts this week, who are probably going to be the 14th team.

Look at what a good coach can do for a team in respect to Newcastle v the Bulldogs. They looked ordinary as against the knights.

It is also well said that the warriors are entertaining to watch under Bluey. They could be dour under Cleary. But it also has to be said the whole comp is more entertaining this year. There is some entertaining football being played. Essentially all teams are saying we can't defend and win games, we have to attack.

I add my vote to the jury still being out on Bluey. So far, a pass. Not a spectacular result, but steady.

Agreed, although Bluey allowed this by what he said pre-season - that the expectation should be of success straight away
