Doesn't he have to claim they cheated or were biased in some way to get fined?

As far as I know he said they were unprofessional in comparison to the game they adjudicate. Which is technically correct.

I thought there was some kind of precedent set with Stuart and Fittler earlier in the year. Could be wrong.

Yes. There is criteria concerning a fine. Hassler just cried hard, he didnt break the rule.

Or will we once again see special treatment for the Manly scum?

Gotta love that special treatment, but tbh I'd cop the fine sweet because the fact that manly are in the nrl and have a reason to complain about the refs is worth any fine. I'd certainly hate to be following a dead club that doesn't even have the opporunity to get fined for complaining about the nrl's substandard ref decisions.

Technically correct?? Tony Williams put down must was extremely unprofessional. That try would have won the game. Maybe Hasler should have went in and told the media how disgraceful that was. He is clasping at straws. His team is not going well. His coaching does not suit the up tempo style the two refs bring, and so he is looking for excuses. Thats the difference between him and great coaches. Great coaches, like Bennett, can adjust their coaching styles to adapt to how the game is evolving.

People keep saying that but didnt manly score the set, or a few sets after? What difference does that drop make? Lyon is more culpable imo.

If they were good enuogh they would have won. Hasler is clasping at straws. How many missed tackles did Manly make? Did any of these missed tackles lead directly to tries to the Gold Coast? Did Manly drop any balls? Did Gold Coast get a try in the pursuing set? How many times did Watmough shoot up out of the line and not make an effective tackle? Hasler has picked out one error by the referee to hang his hat on. The game went for 80 minutes.

Where did Fittler say we were cheated? He says we come under more scrutiny, Hasler says they are unprofessional. Is that not insulting the integrity of the refs?

And did Matt Elliott NOT get fined last year for saying there were different rules for Penrith?

So Hasler calls the refs unprofessional - basically say they're incompetent - and that doesn't bring an aspect of the game into disrepute.

Manly scum - still the protected species.

I didn't say Fittler said the refs cheated, he said exactly what you said and was investigated for it. Freddy claimed a precedent was set when apparently Stuart said something along similar lines. So now we know there's a set criteria when judging coaching comments.

What Hasler said is technically correct. Insulting it may be, the refs aren't doing this gig full time are they? So for that, he gets away with it whether it's right or wrong.

Is it not insulting the integrity of the officials to suggest they are not professional, which in turn suggests they are not up to the correct standard of officiating first grade NRL?

Can somebody also confirm if Matt Elliott was fined for saying there were different rules for Penrith. I seem to recall he didn't get fined but not certain.

Fittler said "bias against Roosters" = fine

Hasler said "unprofessional" = no fine

If Hasler said "refs were unprofessional only when reffing Manly" = fine

Get Dessie to attend the next Press Conference wearing a sharks jersey.

He'll get a ten thousandy for sure, plus suspensions for chucking a brown eye at a thursday nights training in 1984 whilst on the Penrith playing roster.

Cheers

Ok then . The point you quoted was directly concerning people saying tony williams dropped the game for them regardless of the penalty goal, which I argued was not an influential factor as manly scored 1 or 2 sets afterwards without the titans scoring. Nothing to say about that?

For all the good points you make about manly not doing enough to win the game let me put it this way. Manly 17-16 titans without refs incompetence. Yes, the titans won, but both teams were poor and manly did enough to get over the titans for 78 minutes. They might have scored themselves of the scrum they should have had, who knows, but the fact is the ref gave them the game.
