I have almost no hope for next year despite our signings. Any hope I do have hinges on Luke being awesome and McFadden also somehow becoming awesome.

They held that hope for him as a player for a while too

The Coach needs to go now. You guys have the team but you need a coach who will make it work.

If I was the warriors I would be sounding out toovey and Nathan brown. With the squad you guys have those guys would take you over any other gig going

I agree. Cutting 11 and signing 3 just doesn't make sense. Will leave no depth at all.

And all McFadden is doing at the moment is whining about depth and inexperience

This is strange ^^

Baldy is certainly losing the faithful as the weeks go by. Would we still back him as fans if he doesn't get 1 win in the next 3 games? Will Doyle still back him? Have we sounded out any directors to help out?

We all agree we need to get someone in to help him hands on.

Signings wise we only recently shown interest in Reese Robinson. Anything else out there?

We're talking to players and are looking to add 2-3 experienced players (100+ games ideally) to the roster before next season

We have also spoken to and will continue to speak to various coaches as we look to get the right people around Cappy and this may include an experienced coach in a mentorship type role

Don't expect a change of coach, but there will be additions/changes to the coaching staff/structure,

mcfadden is so full of shit. He whines about young players struggling with the demands of NRL yet he played Kata game after game after game until the guy burnt out. And the guy was only supposed to get a taste of football this year. I have serious doubts about his man management abilities and his general coaching ability in general. Looks to me like another Elliot clone who pulled the wool over the managements eyes, but is now being found out. Even though Jimbo is saying that all is good, i wouldnt be surprised if he is working in the background for alternatives. He is very sly ie RTS and Luke signings were kept very quiet.

Yeah, to be honest I agree...

They say he's a straight shooter, but that's only in comparison to his mentor Jar Jar

I think he would need a mentor - not sure who though. And he's also unproven, perhaps too much pressure on him

To be fair to McFadden he needs similar, but then he aligned himself with Jar Jar Elliott...

Johnson calling for 'patience' , think he and the coach were doing same early in the season

Easier said when your getting paid by the club as opposed to pay to see them lose etc

I do feel a bit though for Cappy, look at the injuries he's had dealt with him - Johnson, Hoffman, Laumape, Leuluai, Henry (lol), Thompson, Manu - suspended now is Matulino.

Sure he doesn't make it any easier on himself, god knows his selection policy and interchange plan but that's gotta hurt.

I too, am wonder with the Jar Jar talk?

Cappy has said on more than one occasion that it wasn't the plan to play Kata (or Lisone, Vete, RFM etc) in this many games, but with injuries, suspensions, poor form or effort he was often left with little choice outside of blooding yet another rookie.

We had Peyroux and Maumalo on one side of the field on the weekend. When that happens there's really little alternative.

He had Hurrell available for a match but dropped him and kept Kata over some 'errors'. Kata is even more of an error machine than Hurrell.

I was never a huge fan of Cappy (I think he gets a media and fan scrutiny free ride as his team is sinking faster than the titanic) but that situation was beyond any belief.

And I like Kata, if he irons out his kinks he'll be a bloody good player, but what incentive is there for him when after every stinker he gets another go at having another stinker?

What is, and where does, Jar Jar come from ? Pardon my ignorance.

Let Google be your friend!

I presume this is what it is all about?

FWIW I don't think the players understand the game plan; whatever it is. The squad we have doesn't have the skills or professionalism to understand or implement anything complicated.
We have enough trouble with "catch the ball and don't spill it".
I feel we need to get back to the basics; use our forwards more.
We have always gone best playing an unorthodox "jungle-ball" style.
However Cappy obviously wants us to be well drilled defence bots. Just can't see it happening.
You have to work with the raw material you have.
And I haven't even said anything about a halfback who can steer the team around.

The skill levels in the backs are pretty appalling Rich. Apart from their inability to crisply pull off any set moves (of which there are about two). In regards to attack:

a) None of them, including our hookers, seem to be able to pass ball even moderately well ie lower chest high, in front of moving player).
b) None have the speed and footwork to SIMPLY get on the outside of their marker, commit the defender outside, and create an overlap. Just once a game by one back would be nice. Called draw and pass. Been used for a century as the most effective and simple attacking move.
c) Few of our backs realize that running onto a pass at pace opens up many options.
d) It is easier and more effective to run through gaps than over 105kg people.

I see no evidence of any effective coaching with our backline. Without Johnson weaving some magic, the rest are complete and utter plodders. Manu is good ONLY because he makes big hard meters to get us out of trouble, and he is an incredibly good finisher close to the line (which makes him awesome for us, but his skill set is limited lets be honest). We should only have one Hurrell or Kata type basher in our backline. The other needs to be more all rounded (ball player, nimble, great defender). And (thus far) I don't think Maumolo is the goods, a poor man's Vatuvei.

This one always gets me more than anything, especially from Dummy Half. Watching the All Blacks at the stadium with their bullet-like, accurate passing, I couldn't help but compare it to our lot.

Those wobbly, end-over-end, efforts, take an eternity to arrive, and often a long way from the ideal lower chest position.

You know, it's sounds silly, but I was taught to pass properly as a kid, and can still do it as an adult. Why can't they?
