Mortimer looked better than Robson did, but the thing is, even though Morts has been close to our best player the past few weeks in a row, it's just not good enough from either of them. Something indeed needs to change.
You're kidding right? He's improved but still has been far from good this year still.
That would be my team as well, but Smith and Horo need to lift.My line-up for next week;
1. Hayne
2. Burt
3. Loko
4. Reddy
5. Atkins
On past performances and today's individual performances, that is hands down our best back-line that we can field.
6. Mortimer
7. Robson
Give them a few more games, if they continue to play rough-shod and we lack creativity and spark, then taking the punt on one of those four afore-mentioned players may be necessary.
8. Mannah
9. Mcguire
10. Shackleton
11. Hindmarsh
12. Lasalo
13. Horo
The pack picks itself really.
14. Mitchell
15. Smith
16. Allgood/Webb
17. Moi Moi
I think we'll rue letting Kris Keating go.
I'm fed up with Mortimer, I'm starting to hate that prick. I don't care how hard he tries, he's got no vision or instinct & the worst part is he's as weak as a kitten.
Well how does this sound -Mcguire to halfback-MK startin hooker and mitchel at 14?
Today i think we settled out backline. That should be our starting backline for the rest of the year.
Yeah he's been pretty average so far, him and Morts are much of a muchness IMO.Fishy, watch the replay of today's game & u may change your mind mate.

Brett Kimmorley summed it up perfectly in the commentary just before half time. We did not ask any questions of the storm defence. Hitup, hitup, hitup, hitup, hitup bomb.
In the second half, he made a break, 3 on 1, Boyd intercepts & runs the length of the field. What should have been 15-12 turns into 21-6 Dragons.

Lingard, what is even more obvious is that we do0n't have a 6 or 7. Robson actually looked slower and worse playing at 9 (which seemed impossible), and Morts was ineffective too.
Storm play7 with the equiv of 2 rep 7s, in Smith and Cronk and we have the worst 7 and a pretty much out classed 6.
Atkins and Loko were 2 of our best 3 players, but the halves are embarrassing, Robbo looks like a deer in the headlights when we have the ball and Morts gets crushed due to his size.
I will say it again, sign someone like Tim Smith for he rest of the season if possible, these 2 don't measure up and Robbo is the most ineffective half back we have had, particularly when he has to play in a strture when his shortcomigngs are so apparent.
Well, if we continue to fail in scoring points next week or the halves continue to play poorly, then should Kearney take the punt on another player? There are four player options we have in the halves aside from our current ones as far as I am concerned, and each if them would change the side around a LOT;
1. Hayne to five-eighth.
2. Tom Humble to five-eighth or halfback.
3. Brad Murray to halfback.
4. Marmin Barba to halfback.
Or even a combination of these. Will Kearney take a punt? Unfortunately for us, Hayne is quiet at the moment, Humble has been injured, Murray has been terrible, and Barba is far too young.
I would give it three rounds at the very, very least and ten rounds at maximum for Kearney to make this sort of change. If our season looks to be slipping away (it is still very early and look at what the Storm have done to other teams this year), then is it worth trying out someone else? I would say yes.
I agree with you, Boxhead. Unless Hayne is injured, I think it`s time to move him to five-eight. Not forever, just until a better option comes along. Mortimer just isn`t a five-eight. You won`t believe this, Boxy, but I was on my feet cheering Mortimer after his first brilliant kick today, and then again after his second. But then that was it. He didn`t do anything else all game. I know Robson is definitely not our answer in the long-term, but at this point in time, I think he offers more to the team in terms of his ability to play more than one position.
Question: why isn`t Mortimer running anymore? That was his greatest asset at the end of 2009. Now he just acts as a link; he gets the ball and immediately passes it. What`s happened?
