The city of Perth will no doubt stop tonight as thousands pile into pubs and clubs to watch the big game.

Seems to be screening at 11.10pm on delay in Perth. Channel 9 in Perth easily could show it live, as they are three hours behind. The 6.30 telecast would start at 3.30pm in Perth and finish by the time of their 6pm News. However, Channel 9 chooses to show some crap repeat Sunday afternoon movie instead.

Channel 9 in Adelaide is showing it at 10.30pm.

Really, the NRL has to INSIST on a national live broadcast of AT LEAST the Grand Final as part of its rights deal.

How are the Glory Going again?

Oh that's right, they're lined up after the NZ Knights at the Chopping Block.

To the original poster-Get on the Next plane to Jakarta, watch it on ABC Asia, and Fly back. Odds are you'll be home in time to watch the midnight repeat of the match...

Might be late.

I'm sure at least South perth and North Beach Leagues clubs would have them, probably Rockingham.

I rang up the Paddington Ale House, at they are showing it live.

By the way, kick off is 5pm Perth time.

I think WIN TV in WA are showing it live, so if you've got a powerful enough aerial you might be able to pick up a signal.

They can't though. Nine in Perth & Adelaide aren't owned by PBL, so when Nine does the bidding they can only give terms for the Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney areas.

Well I come back from the Paddo, apparently Rodney Howe has moved back to Perth fulltime, he's the WA state side coach, has harsh words about Mark Geyer, being a dickhead leader for the Reds circa 1995-7.

He's got a gig under Potter as fitness coach for Les Catalans next year.

He is real small now, about 90 kg, the least he has weighed since he was 17.

I was there too, Kurt! Where abouts where you? I was wearing my Knights jersey, and sat in front of the pool table to the left of the big screen. I was with my sister (also in a Knights jersey), and my mate (wearing his Broncos jersey). I was unfortunately going for Melbourne!

I know of several places that were showing it live: Greenwood Tavern, The Paddo, the Inglewood Tavern, North Beach's club rooms, South Perth's club rooms, and another few places that I can't quite remember at this stage.

I have Imparja at home, and watched the whole day's worth of football programmes and lower-grade games at home (I was very disappointed with the result of the Knights-Panthers Jersey Flegg game!), then went to the Paddo to watch the big game with some atmosphere. The only times in recent years that I haven't gone to the Paddo to watch the Grand Final is when I've been at Telstra Stadium itself.

Bloody Ch9. The game finished about 4-and-a-half hours ago, and it's only just started on Perth tv (20-odd minutes ago). Disgusting.

The NRL should either demand the game be shown live on Ch9 and all its subsidaries or be allowed to show it on Fox on a 1 hour delay. Sorry but it is just crap that Ch9 don't show it nationally. Not surprisingly the AFL final was shown live in every state and territory yesterday. I am sick of RL taking 2nd place to AFL and it is time Gallop showed some balls or stepped down!

It's about friggin' time Ch9 Perth woke up to themselves. The NRL Grand Final is one of this country's most-watched sporting contests, I tend to believe that it out-rates the aussie rules one on a national scale, and all the pubs that show it live are all jam-packed with people who want to watch the biggest game of the year.

Still, if it wasn't for sports-reporter Bob Harnett, the NRL probably wouldn't be shown in Perth on Ch9 in the first place. It was he who changed Ch9's mind in the first few rounds of the 1998 season. Ch9 had decided that the NRL wasn't worth broadcasting, but with Bob being a huge League fan and having the right connections at the time (maybe he still does, I don't know), he coaxed them otherwise.

Until we get a team here (which isn't likely for at least 6 years) I can't see much changing Nuke. Gallop had a prime opportunity with this TV deal and blew it. Whilst the AFL was ensuring its game was shown live in non AFL heartlands, RL again whimped out. Another reason why RL won't ever be the No1 sport in Australia.

It is frustrating to watch from over here in obscurity, eh?
I refer not to the games themselves, but to the way the game is handled ...

I saw one guy in a Knights Jersey, this years Knights home Jersey.. was that you.

I was the only bloke in the Paddo wearing an Eels Jersey, wearing specs tonight.

To be honest, I went to the Saint afterwards, and I even saw that tall Eagles player dipsh*t.. ruck player... about 6'9.. Cox ???? plenty of people asked about the NRL GF.. I told them 15-8 Broncos.

I felt like saying "F*ck off, if you want to know the result, get into the game".

Yeah, that was me. I do recall seeing someone wearing an Eels jersey (the mostly blue one?). Honestly, regarding the aussie rules guy you ran into, I wouldn't know. I completely ignore aussie rules to the point that I didn't even know they'd won a grand final yesterday until I was at Burswood last night for the Peter Allen show. I tell ya, Hugh Jackman didn't look like a nice person until he changed into their jersey! As far as I'm concerned, they're all dipsh*ts, and I wouldn't know any of 'em even if they sat up in my cornflakes and said "Hi, my name is ..............".

After tonight's game, I went and got some dinner and came straight home. I wasn't particularly in the mood to go anywhere tonight. It was a pleasure kinda-meeting you briefly in any case!
