final 4 teams - canterbury, st. george illawarra, brisbane, melbourne.
Brisbane beat canterbury, meaning there are 3 teams left, one from each state.

Yeah, sorry about that. Dogs were beaten on the Friday night weren't they?

That left Dragons as the only Sydney team left.

I was there, thats the only game ive even gotten into a fight afterwards.

Was nursing a decent shiner at The Clock cursing the world for the rest of the night.

I still cant believe Gasnier went up and in on Marshall on that first scrum.

Why do we gotta dig up pain? Yeah was there.. remember how pumped the stadium was, lookin around and seeing virtually just red and white.
Then took a glance to my right and saw that small pocket of Tigers fans.. and thought, this is going to be an upset!!!

To this day i still burn when i think of the 05 Preliminary against those f**king bandwagon cats!

By rights we should give them a flogging of at least 20...

Opinions?

pretty f*cking pathetic marketing ploy by the tigers.

basically saying we have no hope of success anytime soon so we'll keep trying to live off 05.

there are probably what, 4 dragons players who are still around from that night? young, cooper, creagh and hornby?

whatever, the club is showing its true colours.

score prediction: dragons 48 tigers 14

Good on ya for being a realist.. Many Tigers fans I know are certainly not and still live off 05. It is pathetic.

Things are ok though, cause Blake Ayshford just re-signed.

At home with two Tigers supporters, a Sharks supporter and Jim Beam.

I watched it pretty objectively, although as passionate as ever, as the 1999 GF killed a little part of me that is never to return. That was the first and last time I cried after a game.

We never settled into the game and didn't handle the pressure at all. Saints tried to go straight to 6th gear without doing a warm up lap and getting a feel for the conditions. The Tigers just did what they had been doing for the previous 16 weeks. Playing with confidence & under no pressure. They deserved to win that night. I'll go to my grave knowing in my heart we were a superior side to the Tigers of 2005 & everyone else that year, but all that matters is producing your best when it matters.

On that night in 2005, it was Wests Tigers who did just that.

Mate it's not pathetic, not winning for 30 years is pathetic :(, I wish we won in 05, I would be glad to live off it :D. I'm so glad we don't have overrated players anymore like we used to with the likes of Gaz and Barrett etc :D.

What was the text?
There were claims it was a threat from Thompson, and the allegation surfaced when the club was trying to ditch Thmpson.

As far as I know, Thompson sending a threatening txt message to Poore has never been fully revealed, or proven conclusively to have ever happened.

The media however, did manage to get some mileage out of Poore's reply to Thompson:

I was nervous all week after watching the Broncos get destroyed in the second half. I knew something bad was going to happen, but I had faith until Cooper knocked on with 4 minutes to go. Then I knew it was over :(

Lol @ The Tigpies.
Benji, the one who led them to that victory in 05 is the NRL's biggest fall from grace.
He's only 24 and is already past his use by date, that stepping he did is now all forgotten, he's put on heaps of weight since that time, his coach put him as half back and he appears to be losing hair also.
He, Farah, Gibbs and Skando are the only ones remaining from that night.
We've only got Coops, Hornby, Young, Creagh and Poore left.
Its 2009, not 2005 and the Tigpies season will end here.

All I remember is getting to the SFS seriously early to jag some seats in Bay 23 / 26.

Had a few beers whilst watching the Swans win their GF on the TV screens up the back.

Was almost well and truly smashed by kickoff .. which I don't normally do. Couldn't wait to see us win a place in the GF. Then suddenly a huge gap opened up right in front of us between Best and Gasnier and Marshall sliced through.

I was at the game, and remember seeing a group of Tigpie fans verbally abuse and mock a group of Dragons fans afterwards. Some little kid was mimmicking Benji's stepping.
I was also at the one a year later against the storm, and remember hearing a fat old melbourne fan sing "oh when the storm go marching in" on the train going to anz stadium, and seeing the tiny storm army overcome the much larger dragon army.

So much for having the NRL's best squad in 2005-6. Everyone who said that forgot to mention sissy 5/8 captain, overrated center and worst coach.

That's the past, its 2009, we're first place, and ready to roast some Tigers!

The atmosphere was unbelievable.

We bought tickets the week before, just hoping the Tigers would beat the Broncos. Our seats were right on half way but nearly all the way up the back of the top bay. There were 3 Tigers jerseys in our whole bay. My, my mate, and some other dude. 3.

I was wearing my 2004 Balmain retro jersey, with the fugly "Herbal World" sponsor. All game, from behind us, "Hhhhhheeeerrrrrrrbbbbbaaaaaalllllllll Wwwwooooorrrrrrllllllddddd . . . . Hhhhhheeeerrrrrrrbbbbbaaaaaalllllllll Wwwwooooorrrrrrllllllddddd ......."

"Soft..... Drink!"

My mate had my 2003 Radisson Maine sponsored jersey on (he's a AFL convert from Mid 2005. The he did not watch one game where we lost in 05).

"Rrrrrraaaadddddddiiiiiiissssssssssssssssssooooooooonnnnnnnn Mmmmmmaaaaaaiiiiiiiiinnnnnneeeeeee . . . "

Any plenty of other stuff that can't be repeated here.

Gee we copped it the WHOLE game. This silly woman behind us was unleashing on us at every possible point. Especially when Barrett scored. We gave it straight back to her when Halatau scored his second in the corner.

It was a surreal feeling to have the team make the GF... ever since I was born my team was always closer to the bottom than the top.

The "PAUL YOU GIVE US FATZ" banner was out in force in the final stages and following the game.
