Your right Frank Brisbane do have some talent in there side, but i wonder about the loss of Thiaday and Maguire. I have seen teams of the past let there experienced hard heads go and have struggled.
Its no surprise to say the Roosters are going to be the side to beat, but with a bit of luck with injuries and our coaching staff can pick our side on form we might have a show.
Maguire will be a lose, but they will have Pangai at lock, who will be an upgrade. Gillett will be back to you could say that he will alleviate the lose of Maguire. I don't see Thaiday as a loss as he was way past it. All of their young forwards should be better this year than last year.

I do see your point about letting experienced hard heads go, we will see how they handle it.

In the past season maybe 2. McGuire is overrated by the media as a player except being a niggle cheap shot merchant. That is why Seibold let him go
In saying that he will probably have a MOM performance against us in Round 1.

I think our forwards will dominate the Cowboys pack in round 1. If selected, I'm going for JDB to get MOM; he needs to win over the fans while waiting for trial.

If our new coaching adviser can convince Mary to correctly manage the bench and select the team on form - resting players with injury / fatigue, then I see a god chance of winning the competition in 2019.

We will need Lomax at right centre, Widdop at fullback, Robson in the hooker rotation and our two new young gun wingers in the 17 from round 1.

“Gun wingers” is a bit of a stretch.

Just caught a bit of a 2003 replay against the dogs.
Geez that SGI team was ordinary. Makes me pretty happy with the team we have assembled for 2019.

If (and this is a big IF) Norman, Widdop and Hunt stay on the park, and play to their potential, surely top 4 should be par.

We need at least 1 of our wingers to be the finisher we have lacked, and Lomax needs to be in the centres.

JDB is a loss, but hopefully we can cover if Tyson moves to 13, and Host/Luc move to an edge. Looking forward to Robson having a break out year as well.

Plenty of good signs in 2019.

With a run on back row of Leilua, T Sims and Frizell we should be ok to achieve forwards domination again in 2019.

I was always hoping Frizell would be in the prop rotation however, it seems we have a few young props coming through that might just do the trick; Lawrie, Timm, and Kerr.

I want to be wrong....I really want to to be wrong but bottom 4 for mine. Trust me when I say that I am a "glass half full" sort of person but I have a deep foreboding about this year. I think this is the year that the McGregor charade is fully exposed. With the JDB "distraction" and with your captain wanting out of the club; I think we are in trouble. This might be the year "we have too have" to set the boat on the right course for the next decade.

The good news is that I expect the coaching staff to be terminated and I predict a very strong re-bound in 2020. It is crucial however (as it always is) as to how we manage our promising juniors.

As an aside, and I have mentioned this before BUT (wait for it)....Paul McGregor is our clubs longest serving coach in almost 40 years. Is it just me that find that fact astonishing? How do some of my fellow dragon tragic's feel about that? It makes me feel really nauseous.

Without going back the full 40-years you’ve mentioned, McGregor is still behind both Roy Masters (1982-‘87) and Nathan Brown (2003-‘08).

Regarding McGregor it's a disgusting case of nepotism that makes me feel sick and angry, and makes the club look like a s!#t run joint

I put top 4 but not with much confidence more hope. If Mary was not coach I would be extremely confident. This squad is definitely a top 8 side. If Saints had a top notch coach like Maguire or Demitriou I think they could easily win the comp. Even Barrett would do a better job I feel than Mary but hey you never know, Mary may have learnt more and become the coach everyone but us Saints fans think he is and that is a "good" coach. Not a top coach but a better than average.

I think Tigers, Knights and Titans will surprise a few teams and could push for a top 8. Souths and Bronco's may struggle. Start the year slow and slowly get better because of this off-season coaching circus. Panthers and Chooks will be the teams to beat. Cleary will take the Panthers to the next level.

If both new wingers prove to be generally NRL standard, run hard, catch bombs, clean up grubbers and defend well on the edges, I think the team will do well despite McKnucklehead. With a decent coach, such a team may well win the competition. That won't happen with McKnucklehead in charge but top 4 is a strong possibility.

But FFS, surely he won't retain Widdop as captain!!! The guy wants out of the f**king club and that moron is leaving him as captain???? Isn't the fact he will be one of the highest, if not the highest paid fullback in the competition enough?

Shonkies in the top 4 is a huge call. I don't think they will make the top 8. Panthers will be thereabouts and Bellamy will have Melbourne up there. Rorters are specials for the top 4 unless their cheating finally gets exposed.

I'd swap Broncos and Shonkies for Panthers and Melbourne.

I can't really see any reason to expect improvement from the panthers this year.

Maloney's best year at a club is usually his first, and with the loss of peachey and Merrin, I'd say they are an overall weaker side.

Yeah its a big call I know but I think Shaun Johnson will be the form 5/8 of the comp playing at Sharks. They are a well structured team and he will run riot behind a well drilled forward pack. And Townsend is a good organiser, Johnson will be able to play his natural game and run. I also reckon Morris is a handy pick up at the end of his career, he will be very good if he stays fit. Moylan at the back is potent. If Dugan gets his act together he is a quality centre.
I'll go out on a limb and say Sharks could win the comp in 2019.
