Looking a bit dicey on this now. The best thing going for us is that the only teams not in the 8 currently that seem close enough are the Dragons (on a huge losing streak) and the Raiders. We really need to pop the next two games in the bag and should then be fine. The final 4 games are tough with 3 games here in Sydney (although none are top contenders) plus the Cowboys at Mt Smart. 28 may be enough if we can squeeze wins against the Sharks, Dragons and Tigers, and may need the Panthers as well just to be safe.

I think this weekend will be very indicative of whether we have a chance of getting to the finals this year. I'll have some confidence back if we have a solid, skilful win. Season pretty much over if we don't though.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see us miss out by one win for the third year running...

Yes I was thinking this myself. We will have a do or die match to get in the 8 in our final match and lose by 50 to make hurt even more. How this season has changed in a small space of time :(

Or not changed at all over a long period.

Two rounds to go...We can in theory still win the spoon...from 10th

We're safe now, Panthers and Knights are still on 20 points, so they'll be playing off for the timberware on the weekend. The only other mathematical spoon chance are the Tigers but they pretty much saved themselves by flogging us and improving their for and against enough, they can only get the spoon if the Knights beat the Panthers, and then the Dragons beat the Tigers by a margin 24 points greater than the Knights/Panthers game.

As for us, I'd say we'll finish 13th, as the winner of the Panthers/Knights game will leapfrog us unless we somehow beat the Dogs. Of course we could slip as low as 15th if the Titans/Tigers win. Can't really see that happening though.

 nobody picked "13th bye bye Cappy" - will the "bye bye Cappy" be prophetic?

Interesting that nobody picked us finishing lower than 10th.
Will that change for next season?

Right now I'll say yes, but as next year gets closer we'll all start thinking in the backs of our minds "this is our year" only to have stuffing kicked out of us yet again

That is interesting, we really had high hopes this year.

To be fair nobody saw the SJ injury coming, with our full squad we'd have made the eight I reckon. Don't think we'd have progressed any further than week one though, we haven't played finals footy quality since 2011.

Yeah I don;t think anyone really anticipates injuries when they make those predictions, you kinda assume the majority of the squad will stay in tact. I think the 5th-8th predictions would've been right had we had a normal injury toll.

I actually disagree that we wouldn't have progressed beyond week 1 with a full squad - the quality of some of the finals games has been markedly low - Sharks/Souths, Dogs/Dragons & Roosters/Dogs were not high quality games at all. We wouldn't have got near the better teams, though.

Yeah if we'd lucked out with opponents we could've made it as fas as a semi. Any of the eventual top 4 would've pants us though bar the Storm (because you know what happens when we play them in finals ;) )
