There's been some talk D.Williams will play centre this year, so it's possible.

Roosters would be close to worst. Some English reserve grader and sweet f**k all. Tbh I don't think we needed to, our forward pack is very solid, and our backs will hopefully getting the strike centre we need if Ryan Williamson is all he's cracked up to be by those who keep an eye on lower grades

Gavin Cooper and Shane Elford....Penrith wins

Possibly the dogs, but when you take into account the losses of SBW, Maitua, Tonga etc (even though SBW left early and the other 2 were ordinary last season) then the net gain isn't that great.

I think the Warriors have done well in strengthening an already strong team. Wiki was on his last legs so is no real loss, but the addition of Jones could be a masterstroke for that team. When you include Kemp, Moon and Lilyman then they have improved their depth as well.

The Raiders have gone well, and considering we're still after Gleeson it indicates we have a fair bit of cash left in the kitty to add to our list. If we can get a half decent outside back then we've done a good job IMO.

on gains alone, Brisbane. Folau is one of the games best centres, Setu has superstar written all over him, when Te'o pulls his finger out he's quality and Gorrell is a handy player.

That's the problem - when you take into account the losses of Hannant, Kemp, Ennis, Moon, Boyd, Eastwood and Carroll then things start to look a bit shakey.

Bulldogs (they've signed blokes who will be good for what they need right now)
Broncos (Folau is a gun, Setu's a gun and T'eo with good coaching will be)
Cowboys (Neil Henry is all they need along with the fitness of Thursty + Bowen)

Im pleased with canberras recruitment, we're not near the best but it's been a good off season for us. The Sharks i think have recruited poorly, big name players, not big game players... they'll struggle in 09

5 teams to choose betwenn for me

Bulldogs
Sharks
Warriors
Broncos
Cowboys

All have put together a good group of new signings - however not sure if it will be an improvement for all of them given what they have lost - sharks about even, broncos - worse, warriors - improve , cowboys - improve but not that much, bulldogs - improve but couldnt have got much worse

The rabbitohs are by far leading the recruiment for 2009

Garrett Crossman--Workhorse prop; 2007 premiership winner with Melb storm

Colin Best--Proven strike rate, good leap for the ball, very athletic and a huge outside back

Rhys Wesser--Proven tryscorer, speed machine

Kane Cleal--Possibly the most aggressive forward in the NRL, SBW rated him in 08 as one of the biggest improvers, despite multiple clubs never sustained an injury while at the rabbitohs

Chris McQueen--105kg back and over 6 foot; came down from the wynnum club from Queensland, and has already broke a few machines at Redfern.

Shaune Corrigan--Proven tryscorer, good leap for the ball, one of the fastest backs around.

Matt Mundine--Toyota Cup Lock of the year, can play multiple positions, still only 18 and locked up for next two years.

The introduction of two oustanding NYC players to the NRL squad this year, Jason Clarke and David Tyrell. Jason makes over 30 tackles a game and is often rated the next alan tongue, while David plays in the second row, is over 6 foot 3 and weighs in over 105kilos. Both highly skilled youngsters with petrol to burn.

If the rabbitohs could make the top eight in 2007 with sh*tty halves and a backline older than a T-ford; there is no reason why this side below can't grab that trophy this year.

In terms of gains... Dogs, Dragons, Cowboys, Warriors and Broncos probably lead the pack...

Out of those sides... Dogs and Broncos suffered substantial losses in 08 so it's difficult to say their overall squad quality has improved.

The team who has had the best net gains on top of squad retention would have to be Manly, the premiership winning side has barely changed but added some quality depth to the squad.

Based on improved recruitment from some sides, it looks like the Dragons, Cowboys and Warriors will be the big improvers in 09

If he carries on the way he is from all accounts, whoever has that "Danny Wicks for fattest man in NRL banner will have to change it."
