Which teams can we put a line through for 09 realistically?

Add the Broncos to that list. They are gone. No forwards to speak of.

Too much class to write them off this early. If Hunt, Issy, Hodgo and Locky can get back on the field together and find some form they'll be there, but they have to do it soon.

Draw a line through the Raiders, Roosters, Sharks, Eels, Tigers, Warriors and Knights. They won't make it.

Seriously mate? Did someone from Newcastle steal your car - or did you read the signs wrong and hit on Paul Harrogan one night?

Someone from the Hunter has seriously pissed you off. Do yourself a favour mate and build a bridge. They're far more likely to reach the last eight than either of our two teams.

Newcastle might make the 8, but they wont do any damage to the top teams. They've been massive over-achievers thus far (having said that I dare say they'll smack the bunnies tonight).

I think 28 AND a good for and against will get you in.

Warriors' only hope is to get to 29 - they'd need to win 7 of 10 - lol

with 4th to 9th just 3 points apart, these ared the teams which are likley to make up the top 8. Warriors, South and Parramatta all on 15 are in with a chance (assuming they need 29, all require 14 more points out of a possible 20). Now Parramatta have not won 2 games in a row all year, the warriors and souths are also up and down. While I doubt any of these 3 will make it, I would not put a line through any of them just yet because they all have noted game winners and could go on a long streak.

My tip is for Melbourne or Manly to miss out (either one will fall into a massive slump and loose a few games straight to kick them out of the top 8). This tip has no basis just hope more or less.

With our injury list. You can put a red line through us. Apparently Petero out for 7 weeks. A disaster on top of no Lewis for so long too.

Who the f**k are they kidding. Something must be wrong with the ways things are being run with so many injuries.

And also, Piss off Elliot, we'll never be a success with you as coach. Why did we resign him? 3 seasons of failure coming up I bet and yet he stays on?

If the Petero injury is true, you can just about write off the Panthers.

I think that's the 8 settled, short of Canberra playing like that every week and replacing Herbert with an inanimate carbon rod.

you can put a line through my mob as well.

Too many lazy players, with the exception of JT, LOD and Payne.

No Petero and no Lewis - we'll struggle to beat anyone that can field a near full strength side. We have a chance against Parra and Souths, but will need to be really on our game and take every opportunity.

If I had to predict: Penrith to go 5 straight seasons without a finals appearance sadly. But the club only has themselves to blame - keeping Elliot and signing hardly anyone and letting so many players go. Our depth is poor due to the clubs poor recruitment and retention.

On another note: Don't write off the Gold Coast as a big chance this year - because it seems people are. Injuries destroyed them the last two seasons, now they have better depth. Any team with Preston Campbell and Scott Prince has a big chance come finals time. If Penrith's season doesn't recover, I'll be happy for the Titans to win it.

Thanks for Rodney btw. He's a champ!

I don't think it was a bad choice to get rid of him though. Innjury prone deluxe. There are alot more that are glarlingly bad choices from your management.

I'd hate to be the Dragons going into the knockout 1v8 final if the Knights come in 8th. It's not every season where the minor premiers have been beaten by the team that they have to play in the first round of finals.

1 Dragons
2 Bulldogs
3 Storm
4 Knights
5 Titans
6 Sea Eagles
7 Panthers
8 Cowboys

So what if the Dogs or Titans came first and the Knights 8th...would you hate to be them also? As the Knights have beaten them also.

Can't disagree. Elliot was hired with one phone call apparently and Lang was punted with the same simplicity.

I agree

But they're better than 9 other sides in the comp and that makes em a top 8 team. They'll be there - probably 1 spot down on where they are atm. I agree no threat to the top teams though.

Just like they didn't do any damage to the Dragons, or Dogs earlier in the year?

Ah the old "We Don't Care" factor. None of these matches mean anything until the finals for the teams competing. The Warriors proved out of nowhere it's possible. Knights performances against the Bulldogs or Dragons in early rounds won't determine at all how they could go in the finals...
