if it was my wife, id make her give birth at the grand final lol

why not? on the sideline have the trainers there the club doctor can also deal with it while keeping the players in check and show the birth on one of the big screens while having the match on the other.

or better still induce her at half time and have it as the half time entertainment right in the middle of the field and when the baby is born announce the sex on the big screen with and finish it off with a lap of honour...

you're a genius Marshal.

I saw my son born & if I could turn back time I'd have not gone in. I was not ready for it at all. With my daughters birth, I got out of seeing that because as soon as my wife started the heavy breathing I started thowing up. I was not well at all & can not handle the birthing process as a spectator or supporter.

I didn't mean to miss my girl's originally but I'm glad I did. I won't be there again if i can at all help it but am more than happy to be right at the door waiting for the end! My wife said she'd prefer me not to be there too if I'm just going to stress out & spew everywhere so everyones happy!

Needless to say. I'd be playing!
Yeah I'm with you.If I have any more children I am DEFINATELY NOT going in:lol: All the blood and heavy breathing:roll: damn those junior doctors:crazy:

you are missing the point hellsy my question wasn't about what PJ should do as you rightly say thats none of our business i was just asking hypothetically if it was your decision which would you choose

I know that, and I answered it earlier on in the thread. People in here kept talking about what PJ should do, hence my post that it is none of our business..................

I'd have given up the grand final to witness the birth of my children. A momentous occassion that will never be topped (though the Eels winning the GF would come tremendously close). Sure - there is a lot of blood and other bodily fluids but that is the start (well not quite but you know what I mean) of a life...... magnificient experience - very emotional for me I must say.

A big decision for PJ....

I would even go so far to put in a huge offer to get on the VB couch for the day by the sideline and get the interchange bench to help out with the birthing process.

Seriously though, childbirth is great but it doesn't even get close to growing up with your kids....watching them evolve through their lives...that is the miracle.

When it all comes down to it, there is NOT a right or wrong answer and our opinions are just that.
It is really up to PJ and it is his business.
If he chooses one or the other he shouldn't be critiscised either way
Oh come on,people are always giving the players /coaches/officials advice on these forums:roll:

I never said you couldn't have an opinion, you can have all the opinions in the world.
My opinion was that it is obviously PJ's decision and whatever he decides he shouldn't be critiscised, not that he has been critiscised. This is the only opinion I can give as I have never been in the situation.
You obviously have and are in the best position to comment on it from your own personal experiences.

I'd play the grand final.

What if you missed the grand final and your child comes out with 2 heads? I missed a grand final for this. Could you even begin to imagine the disapointment?

Pfft! Hes into Hillsong... Im sure there will be many more kids!

These woman know when they marry footballers what it involves and at the end of the day its their jobs and whilst most employers would let you have time off for the birth (as would Parra) he is an integral part of our team.

I can see it now in players contracts in the furtue...........

Page 147, Section 45, Clause 2.2, Paragraph 4, Sentence 4.........

"player under contract to the parramatta eels shall not engage in any sexual activity around new years eve"

onya PJ, Must have been a corker of a night son

PS: for those of you non lateral thinkers out there, just reverse 9mths from the grand final date ;-)

My former business partner..who was a Kangaroo tourist in 1967..son had the opportunity of making his first grade debut (with Illawarra when G Murray was coach) or being best man at his sister's wedding..He chose the latter. He had toiled away in lower grades at Canberra and the Steelers and had earned his spot..It didn't come about through injury...
You are a family member longer than you are a footballer and it didn't affect his career. He went on to play over 200 first grade games in the ARL, Super League, and English Super League before coming back and having three successful years coaching in the CRL...
I thought at the time of his decision (as a footballer) "You're mad"...but he definitely went up in my estimation of him as as a man..
Great bloke..always was, and always will be...Life is about making difficult choices. Whatever decision PJ makes..I'm all for it..
